Bajar ja Rotla, chaas, makhan, dungari & lasan ji chutney is one of the staple food for Kutchi.
Typically rotla is prepared from Bajra, Juwar, Rice flour. Bajra is more popular among Kutchi.
Hot Rotla in recent cold rainy days is welcoming. Whereas some folks savor leftover rotla in breakfast.
We also prepare rotla from leftover Khichadi. Some of the variations we do are mixing onion, coriander or parsley to it.
What different kind of Rotla you have had or prepare? (Don’t mix them up for Paratha 🙂 )

I love hot Bajra Rotla with “Gud” (Jaggery). Very yummy.
We make Maharastrian style Thali Pheet with Jowari and Chana(Besan) Atta. Add onions garlic sesame, jeera powder, ginger,green chilli,cilantro,lemon juice and oil to make the dough.
Make the way you make rotlas. Its a very good meal for winters.
I love rotla for breakfast with bell pepper fried and tea . sounds yummy.
Saahas loves bajra rotla with makhan. Since we don’t make makhan here, he eats with whipped cream cheese.
Deep and I love Rotla- If any one is having rotla party let us know we will drop evrything for this :-).
I make Thaleepeeth with equal amount of ready K-Pre brand thaleepeeth mix & rice flour. Add curd,onions,cilantro,green chillies & water. I make the batter thin & just pour on hot pan(it will spread itself) with ghee & make it like dosa. Its very yummy & easy to make also.
At my mom’s place, bajar ja rotla is the daily menu for breakfast during winter days. It is accompanied with marcha/green chutney/bajora and chai ofcourse.

Jowar ja rotla with besan(this is served alongwith with thalipeeth in restaurants in pune) and onions on side used to be for dinner.
We love Rotla/Chutney/Marcha with chai. Most of the times maitrayee makes at home, but once or twice we have gotten frozen rotla from Sugandh. They are pretty decent.
Maybe we should have a “kutchi food” theme at one of the events where folks can make and bring rotla, khichi, dhokdi, etc. :-).

Jowari rotla with tastes very good with onion sab zi this is a typicaL Marathwada meal.
At a restaurant called “Swati” at Tardeo Mumbai we have had Masala Mix Bajra and Jowari roti. Its very delicious.

– Our Marwadi Neighbors’ Kid call them – Cement Ki Roti
– My Kaki used to make yummy moong daal rotla for breakfast. It’s been a while I ate these.
– Kairavi and I use cream cheese as replacement for makhan. I sometime mix sambhario or peanut chutney to cream cheese. And when we go to Bombay we fuel up our Makhan Rotla/khakhara quota.

Swati and I love Rotla very much. I like to have Rotla with Gud and Chaas an awesome combination where as swati likes it with Chai.

We used to have Bajra ka rotla + Gud + Ghee hand-mixed together and made into a Laddu for school lunch sometimes. Later with the arrival of mixers – you could do that in mixers….
For letfovers my mom used to fry (I think) the leftover rotla with garlic chutney and it used to be Yummmierrrrrrrr with Chai…..
Bhumi calls it “Gray maani”. Her Nani makes it for her whenever we stay over.
I have heard people make bajra rotla from left over khichhdi. Add some spices like turmeric, red chilli powder, salt, garam masala etc.
