Anyone finding that there is an increase in break-ins recently. One of my collegue’s home was broken into recently. Basically they woke up at 4am to find a man in their bedroom. Wow. That is so scary. Here is the news item:

I talked with my colleague and he said his wife woke up to see a man in their bedroom. She chased the man out of the house. I also heard from 1-2 other people about an increase in break-ins recently in houses and apartments. Have you heard of similar stories?

Due to the sour economy maybe people are forced into robbery, etc. Please be very careful about locking your doors and windows at night. Also may make sense to leave one light on in the house during the night to give the feeling that someone is awake.

  1. Yes, similar thing happened with my colleague. She and kids had gone out in afternoon leaving her husband home (who was sleeping after a dose of cough medicine:-)). Crooks broke into the home between 12:00 pm and 1:30 pm and cleaned out all the electronics without waking up the husband.

Another colleague had gone to India and came back to a broken into house.

  2. wow i have this nightmare everyday that we may wake up with robbers in the house…….
    its actually true for someone………

So does anyone know what proof do we need to provide to Home insurance companies in case of loss of property?

  3. One mode of proof is your photo with your valuable items. Few years back my manager then used some of their family photos to point & prove valuable stolen from home.

  4. BTW – there have been recent instances in ardenwood area about thieves taking the Fedex/UPS packages which are left at the home-owners’ door.

  5. Last year there was a break-in in my friends apartment in my complex. they took 2 laptops, jewelery & lot of stuff. The police never did find the burglars. But the funny part is that when they were leaving from the bedroom window from where they came, my friend just opened her eyes to the noise & they waved bye bye. Till the time she realized what was happening they were gone.

  6. A friend’s house (the one who makes those short videos) got broken into this week while they were not at home.

Continue to be on your guard.
