There are many videos on youtube and many a times we just want to listen to the audio of the video and save it as an mp3.
I had the need to download such a song into mp3 and i did some research.
there is a site listentoyoutube.com which takes a url and gives back the mp3. All this is online. So no need to install any software. However this did not work for the intended video. I tried another small video and that worked. In fact in front of any youtube video link you just need to add “listento” and it will TRY do the right thing.
My task was eventually completed by all2convert.com
Just creating this post to capture all such useful tools to use with youtube.
Here are the other suggestions that folks posted to me via email:
1) What you are looking for is a software that will capture directly off the sound card. Use this link as a reference for available software.

As such this method of capturing audio is dubious (possibly illegal) and therefore you may not find established companies like Real giving out software for this, but rather your run-of-the-mill software providers. As with any software that is shareware/freeware – beware of any trojans/viruses/etc.

3) i have used “wavepad” software for doing this. you can search for wavepad and i am sure you will find it.

4) I have the CD for the song that you want to convert. 😉

I found this software yesterday which can record anything that’s been played on the laptop.
“PolderbitS Sound Recorder”
I haven’t got time to play around with it but looks like this can do the trick.
