Watched Jaane Tu yaa jaane naa recently and liked it tremendously. A wonderful film with great casting, nice story, hummable songs and a feel-good feeling about it. 20 years back Mansoor Khan directed Aamir Khan in QSQT and now Mansoor Khan and Aamir Khan are producing this film in which Imran Khan (Aamir’s nephew) debuts. I rate this movie somewhere between 8 and 9.
Imran is awesome in his acting and he is ready to be a Star in my opinion. Genelia is good too but not as good as Imran. Watch Imran’s expressions when Meghna takes him to meet his parents and they quarrel in front of him and you will know the potential this guy has. He conveys a lot without words. Manjiri Phadnis who plays Meghna is good as well.
I dont know when was the last time I felt satisfied after seeing a Hindi movie. But I am glad films like this are being made. Aamir’s production house is maintaining a high standard in polishing movies coming out under their banner and it shows. The Songs by A.R Rahman are really nice and “Pappu Cant Dance Sala” is on the disco circuit making waves of course.
The cameos by Naseeruddin Shah, Ratna Pathak, Paresh Rawal, Arbaaz Khan, Sohail Khan are all well done. We could not stop laughing at the end when the Inspector says “Sir, terrorist gaana gaa raha hain”.
Imran is coming in another movie “Kidnap” directed by Dhoom director and I am looking forward to that.

Since Prashant has made a post on this movie, I want to write my experience on the day (Sat) we watched this movie. We meaning myself, Bhumi and Keya. Samir was in US and was coming on Sun. My MIL went to Devlali on Sat, so I was all alone with the kids. Went to PVR in Nirmal Lifestyle. Wanted to catch the 5pm show but was house full, so got the tickets for 7:20 show. Now we had 2 and half hours in hand so went to Orama (it’s like Chuck E cheese) in Nirmal only. Kids had blast. Then had Pizza and pasta in the mall for dinner. And caught the show. And returned home by 11:30pm or so.
We all enjoyed the movie and I thought I was in US for that evening. No one to bother me nor did I have to tell any one where I was the whole evening
until when I was returning home someone called me and asked “where are you bhabhi?, what are you doing out so late with kids, etc” :-))
I forgot to add the presence of newcomers in this movie really added to charm. Newcomers often add that element of surprise since we dont know what to expect from them.
Hollywood has many more newcomers in movies than Bollywood. Hollywood stars do not act in many movies also. Bollywood actors are way over-exposed by doing too many things. Hence the charm of usual actors is going down.
Amisha, just yesterday only i was thinking to write on KV “Kya Amisha, aaj kal kuch bhi comment nahi tumhare se”. Glad you obliged before me writing anything. 🙂
