On Saturday July 26, 2008, about 45 KVites came out for the KV Sports Day. Attendance was fairly impressive and so was the promptness of people in coming dot on time at 5pm. We played various sports and in variety of categories (kids, males, females, seniors, couples).
Lakewood Park in Sunnyvale turned out to be a good venue for Sports Day. It offered the necessary privacy from the rest of the park and ample seating for spectators. There were no trophies to award and everything was done in an informal manner. We did however distribute mini trophies to all kids for their participation. We also did record some of the results just for fun. These results appear below. All results could not be noted down.
This was a KV Sponsored event meaning that the little $$ spent on this event came from the KV Fund.
All participants need to be commended for their sporting nature and willingness to take part in various games. This was held in the evening at 5pm and that gave a different feel to the event as compared to our other events. Post event we all went to Dosa Place in Santa Clara for a nice meal.
Among other suggestions, Improvements for next Sports Day can include:
a) Better organization of games with a well-thought out schedule so that we can play without interruption one after the other smoothly.
b) A longer track so that winners can be properly differentiated. 🙂
c) Continue the 5pm timeline followed by group dinner at restaurant. 🙂
