Seems like Deja Vu. I got a traffic violation for breaking a red light, multiple lane changes without giving a signal and speeding (all in one). For a minute I thought I was done for.
Nitul, if you are still hanging short on your violation, try this:
www.ticketassassin.com
After a 25$ fee they give you ideas how to contest cases. They even help you prepare your “Contest by Mail” letter and explain all the advantages of contesting by mail as against contesting in person. This is your legal right and the State does not mention this choice to you for a reason. They don’t want you to know but you can ask them to send you a form for the same. Much more on the website. Enjoy!
Couple of years ago they used to give the form for $10. Inflation has caught up !!!!
I had a colleague who got a ticket for not stopping at Stop sign….he got help from the site and presented a 10-12 page written appeal to the court by mail….he had clicked pictures of the street n how he could not have gone ahead withour stoppin at the Stop sign and that police car was at an angle that could not see this and he was able to get away with the $200 ticket
So, did the site help you jeegar ? Was the ticket dismissed ?
It gave me some good ideas. I haven’t paid the $25. Once I get the invitation letter by mail I will proceed with the needful.
The ticketassasin guys sell you the form on the premise that you would send in your trial by mail and the Police office who gave you the ticket will not answer (he does not have an incentive to since if he has to come to the court he gets 125-150 bucks). If the police office does not respond, the case is automatically decided in your favor.
But if he responds back and the verdict goes against you – you will have to pay the full fine as well as not have the option of traffic school to remove your point – which in turn would increase your insurance.

BTw – in Fremont, they do mention the option of contesting by mail in the letter which is sent to you from the court.
Hey Bhavesh, that is not true. If the verdict goes against you after a Written trial and you are not “pleased” with the verdict you have a second chance to appear in court. This may get probability to work on your side as most likely by then either the cop doesn’t remember your case, or doesn’t care or likely still will get layed off. You don’t get a second chance if you go appear in person in the first shot itself.
As per one person in the indian mailing list in my company …
“This is what happened to me. I went to court and got a date. On that date I attended traffic court and when my time came he said that he could not identity me from the photo and dismissed the ticket. Looking at the photo I could identity myself but that is not the same as the judge being able to identify you. So if you make yourself look different (hair cut etc) when in court then what the photo shows then that will also help.”
Mission accomplished ! Case dismissed. Strike 6 !!
Congrats Jeegs !!!
