Are we going to have more *1 and *2 ?

Guess you all know what S1 and S2 means in kutchvalley dictionary? If not then you surely are new to kutchvalley. Well S1 = Sanjay Gala 1 and S2 = Sanjay Gala 2. Simple isn’t it…
Before i proceed further i recollect this incident that happened with me w.r.t. the name Sanjay Gala in my first meeting with kutchvalley folks, ofcourse a small group that time. Sanjay and Parul gala had hosted a party and we arrive at the party. Met Parul outside the club house and Jayesh introduces her as Sanjay Gala’s wife. We go inside the club house and after meeting few people, meet another lady Ameeta Gala – she say’s she is wife of Sanjay Gala. I get confused and tell her – i thought Sanjay gala’s wife was Parul. Ameeta is like – oh no no.. there are 2 Sanjay Gala’s here – I am Sanjay Gala 2’s wife 🙂 So this is how i got to know S1 and S2.
Now coming back to 1 and 2, seems that we have more people with same names, since we need more context when talking about these people. Haven’t met all the people with same first names, but see some of them putting comments on kutchvalley etc. Is it time to call them as 1 and 2 as well 🙂

Same first and last names
——————————
1. Tushar shah (San Jose and Sunnyvale)
2. Bijal Gala (San Jose and Sunnyvale)

Same first names
——————–
1. Bhavesh [Gosar, Chheda and Patel]
2. Ameeta Gala and Amita Nisar
3. Samir [Savla, Shah]
4. Amit [Vira, Chheda]

Any funny incidences to share w.r.t same names? More people with same first and/or last names in kutchvalley?

5 Comments:

  1. In the same first and last names list there was a “Dimple Dedhia” who was a student in San Francisco. (Dont know whether she is still there).

Because of these numberings we now have Ameeta#1 married to Sanjay#2. 🙂

We also have 2 J Gadas (Jayesh and Jatin). Ooops. Make that 3. (Should be counting the Junior Jash Gada also).

Maybe we can refer to the Sanjay Galas by adding their middle initials while referring to them. I hope the middle initial is also not the same. 😉

In the older generation people resolve similar names confusion by adding “gham in kutch” or “business associated with” to the name. Now in the modern generation what can we associate the name with to resolve confusion? A few suggestions would be :

    a) programming expertise (Sanjay Gala C++)
    b) company worked for (Sanjay Gala Tibco)
    c) wife (Sanjay Gala Ameeta)
    d) apt complex? (Sanjay Gala Olive West)

Fortunately for me, I have managed to discourage any Kutchi Prashants planning to move to the bay area (till now). 🙂

  2. From the list that Prashant has suggested, items a, b & d can possibly change over a period of time. (In Sanjay’s case, all three have changed). Only a wife won’t change. So I strongly believe we should associate wife’s name.

  3. On second thoughts Ameeta, Can’t we just stick to Sanjay’s new name “Ramesh Jamai”. 🙂

  4. Well as everyone knows Sanjay Gala S1 as a mukhia of kutchis in Bay Area when we moved to Bay Area my cousin in Boston gave us his reference and contact number…we moved and tried calling him..but unfortunately his numbers had changed…..then the week before Holi Garba last year Amit and myself were at India Cash and Carry, talking to each other in kutchi…Ameeta and S2 were waiting ahead of us in line and she overheard us….she started talking to us ‘ You are kutchi never seen you before here…’ We introduced ourselves and so did they…we jumped arre Sanjay Gala, we are trying to call you, we got your reference from Boston…and before the next statement…S2 says that cannot be me it has to be S1…

  5. This is not about names but apartment numbers….Boardwalk apartment (where we live) is on both sides of the street with similar apartment numbers on each side referenced as East and West…So one day we get this letter of some Milap Shah and realizing it been some Indian we were eager to meet them…Then couple days later Milap throws a party at his place and this time instead of a letter a chick babe lands up at our place asking for Apt 202#..but unfortunately for Amit she was Milaps guest
