I am trying out this new free service from Grandcentral.com which gives you one phone number for all your phone numbers.
It has a variety of personalization options. You can set which number (home, work, mobile) do you want to ring for which caller.
I reserved an easy number 408 – 627 – 4824 for myself. You can choose from a whole bunch of available numbers. My number also reads as “MAP-4-TAG” for easy remembering. So if you want to reach me you can use this number “627-4824”.
Seems like a lot of personalization options exists. So check it out and reserve your number while the numbers are still available. :-).
There is a strong possibility that Google already bought this Hot company a few days back. But only Deep would be able to verify that. 🙂
Sounds interesting. How does it work when you have routed certain callers to your home ph#. But you are not at home and the caller needs to reach you immediately, won’t he/she have to remember your cell phone number too?

I just registered myself in the 408 area code as 877-MEGA – this was the closest we could get to getting an easy to remember number. There were not that many numbers available to choose from in the 408 area code.
Seems like a good concept that needs to be played with. This does free you up from having to worry about changing your cell/home/work numbers in case you move since everyone just needs to remember the MEGA number. To use the call routing feature based on the caller does require extra efforts to correctly categorize your list of callers (I dont know if I will do it).
Hopefully they will continue this free service for the existing features now that the “do no evil” company has bought them 🙂
I think you need not restrict yourself to 408 area code. You can choose any area code that you want.
Also FYI, this has now become an invite only service. So only those who have this already can invite you.
