Few of us had bought Groupons for the Global Winterland and went there this weekend.
It was actually a very nice experience.
I had not been there last year so can’t compare with last year.
The groupon included entry to the park, entry to Great America Theatre for shows and rides.
Kids under 4 are free. But there was some misunderstanding for them on getting onto the rides. At the entrance we were told that kids under 4 could get onto rides if parents had wristbands but inside the park they were not allowed on the rides.
Anyways park had lot to offer. There were various rides. Lots of structures based on Fairy tales all lit up.
They had laser show and artificial snow and bubbles for the kids to play. This was very nice as the entire mood changed and was very festive.
Also every weekend they have a cultural celebration. This weekend it was all about India.
Andaz group had a live band and performances depicting various eras of Indian Cinema.
There were few rides – giant wheel, GA carousel, trains and so on.
We spent almost 5 hours in the park and still could have done few more things. But kids were just tired.
The groupon has expired but, on their website if you purchase 3 or more tickets its $12 per person. This includes only entry to the park.
Yesterday they were selling wristbands for rides at 50% discount @ $7.50.

All in all a good experience if you are planning to spend Holidays in Bay Area.
I agree that it is a good experience to see the Christmas lights,
And you can spend an evening there, go well prepared for the cold weather,
And carry some snack and drinks, as there aren’t many option within the park.
We visited the park last year too, could have skipped it this year,
Wasn’t much different & the India day celebration on Sun. Was nothing to rave about.
My suggestion, if you have been there once, Skip It !
