LionKing – The Musical Broadway Show is in Bay Area

Thanks to an email by Dimple back in June sometimes and then an email thread discussion amongst few, we got to watch this show.

This was our first ever Broadway show and we really enjoyed this rendition of a Disney classic. The props, moves and costumes used to tell the story were ingenious and pleasing. The opening number was the best part of the show. A parade of elephants, zebras gazzeles, giraffes was mind blowing. The performances by all the actors were VERY good.

Amazing how they were able to pull this African Savannah setting off on a stage! Beautiful use of all African culture, wardrobe, art and music.

The only negative thing I can say is that the price of the tickets are pretty high, but that seems to be the standard with many shows on Broadway. As far as the show itself, the price of the ticket was well worth it. I’ve seen the movie longtime back, of course; and I was wondering how certain scenes would translate to the stage.

If you haven’t’ booked your tickets, I would highly recommend do so. As this show comes only once in few years to Bay Area.

The show can be enjoyed by adults as well as kids older than 6 years old.

For those of you have already booked the show here is some information that will be helpful.

We parked at SOMA Grand Parking Garage which is about a BLOCK away from the theatre. They offered free Valet Parking for all the guests attending the show.

This garage is way cheaper than the Parking offered by the Theatre.

If you want to take the BART, Civic Center Bart Station is right next to the theatre.

And for those of you can’t make it for any reason don’t worry youtube has many videos posted 🙂

(Don’t watch the videos if you plan to go to the show it will kill the fun of it.)

Go Enjoy the show!!

  1. Sneha,
You are truly lucky, that you can afford to watch on a weekday! And thanks for the update, we look forward to seeing it soon.

  2. Sneha, you’re absolutely right about taking kids older than 6. I took Nupur when she was 5 and despite having read the book about 20 times and having seen the movie a couple of times the scene where mufasa dies was too graphic. So I would even say 8 and older.
It’s truly a broadway marvel, I would say its one of the best!
    Enjoy!

  3. I am glad some of you followed up & enjoying it… will continue to stay in my to do list.. 🙂
