Schools have opened for most or it opens next week for some.
So it’s back to packing lunch and snack for kids now.
And I am guessing it is a challenge everyday w.r.t to what you want to pack and what kids will wanna eat π
So let’s share the secrets about what you pack in lunch and snack for kids.
Here are some of the things that I pack
1. Roti Rolls with veggie in it.
2. Pasta
3.Sandwich
4. Pulav/Biryani Rice
5. Rice with some kathol
6. Idli
7. Thepla
8. Stuffed Paratha
9. Macaroni Cheese
Snack

1. A dairy item – cheese/yogurt/milk
2. Fruits or fruit cup
3. Cookies Or Some nutrigrain type Bar
4. Dryfruits(Cranberries/Raisins/Figs)
Rolled Paratha with gud.
Hummus with wheat pita bread.

1. baby carrots/ Cucumber
2. Miloni likes celery with Peanut butter and raisins. They had a cooking project called ants in a log. Put Peanut butter on celery and add raisins
3. Godpapdi, chikki , laddoo, banans bread

One of our favorites has become Mini Veggie Uttapams.
Rava idli.
we call in “moong-chaat”. Bhumi takes it thrice a week, that’s her favourite. Moong + Cucumber + Tomatoes + bell pepper + Corn + lemon juice + chaat masala and in a separate container I put sev + small pieces of Khakhara. She ixes everything together while eating.
Keya’s favourite is fruit salad – banana + pear + apple + cantaloupe etc. and along with it “Sukhadi” for the filling.

regular left over roti + cheese+ pasta sauce and make it like quessedia on the skillet or roti + cheese+ garlic chutney .

Fruits somehow don’t turn brown or black. π
@Bhavini, make paratha and put shredded jaggery in the middle then pour some ghee on top of jaggery and roll it.

PB&J sandwich as kids get older – especially when they will want to eat it quick.
Maggi is a kids’ fav all the time π

Most of my lunch menu are covered above except:
Ghee Rice
Avacado jelly sandwich ( the avacodo in the sides gets black, inside it remains green).
Thooli w/ ghee (cooked cracked wheat w/ salt or gud)
snacks/ sides:
Puran balls ( make puran puri puran and freeze it, take out some and make bite size balls),
One of Veer’s fav snack is tortilla spread with peanut butter and mashed banana spread. On top add thinly cut apples. You can refrigerate it overnite and Saran wrap for a healthy snack.
I have also given him hash browns, pancakes or toast with honey, boiled corn, ritz cracker with laughing cow cheese spread.
For lunch : purii/paratha(made with dal inside it, make it previous day), tomato soup with toast,bean and cheese quesadillas, idlis sliced horizontally and filled with coconut chutney. All time favorite and easy PBJ.
