2 weeks back we went for cherry picking at Tidrick Ranch in Brentwood (based on recommendation from few other kutchis). It was a fun experience at least for us. For kids, the cherries were a bit high (as compared to strawberries) and hence kids could not do much picking. But Kids had fun eating those cherries since the policy was that you can eat all that you want inside the farm.
When we went the ranch had plenty of cherries. But you can always call up and find out the current status. They have ladders there to help with the picking. They provide you with buckets also which you can hang from trees to keep your hands free for picking. The good thing was that there were plenty of trees and hence plenty of shade. Unlike in strawberry picking where there are no trees and hence it can get pretty hot. The ranch had a 2-3 small tables outside the gate but you can always spread a canopy inside the farm and eat food on ground.

In our enthusiasm we picked up more cherries than required (almost 10 pounds). The cost was about 2$ / pound. Considering that only a week back I had picked up Cherries from a store for about 6.8 $ / pound (by mistake) this price felt awesome. 🙂 And to add it to that all the free cherries that I ate inside the farm. yummy….

Among other farms, You can find address of Tidrick ranch from here:

The place was not as crowded as Pomeroy farms which comes first on the same road. So that was a good thing.
I think Kids may have more fun with strawberries since they can pluck them themselves. But cherry picking was not bad either. For adults both should be a good experience.
One more thing: Cherries get bad pretty fast in 3-4 days. So keep them in fridge to give them a little bit extension.
Next time need to go early in May month so kids could pluck the cherries from lower branches of the tree.
Got a chance to eat hand picked cherries from Pease Ranch (picked during long weekend), Tidrick Ranch(picked by the Shah’s ofcourse). Tidrick ranch cherries were much better than Pease Ranch. Pease ranch were still not completely ripe i guess. Ofcourse it again depends on the picker as well as the ranch fruit readiness.
Did anyone go for Strawberry picking this season. The season lasts till July in the farm where bhavini and other KV folks went last year.
Is other KV family interested in going for strawberry picking in the coming weekends?
