As promised in one of the earlier posts 🙂 here is a post to find out one of the following:
a) Do you know any celebrity?
b) Even if you have not known that celebrity did you ever have a chance to get your photo taken with a celebrity?
c) Does a celebrity know you?
A celebrity would be defined as someone whom others can recognize just by giving their name. Can be from politics, films, Companies, Sports, TV, etc.
Just catching a glimpse of a celebrity at some show or at some film shooting does not count. You need to have at least taken a photo with them or shook hands with them or exchanged a few words with them.
I dont think I ever had my picture taken with any celebrity or I know any celebrity. 🙁
As I had already written some weeks back, Leena knew actor Sadashiv Amrapurkar’s daughter since they both were in same class in school and i believe Leena visited their home too. Nivedita Joshi (Marathi actress) stayed above them and she was kind enough to sign an autograph for us.
I had a photograph with our famous Tarlaji Tarla Dalal at Jayna in July 2005…..hehhe…she was so sweet she knows that she cant communicate well in front of audience but she takes that weakness in her stride…
no pictures but have met, shook hands and taken autograph with Sushmita Sen @ Shopper’s Stop in Andheri.
Samir, Did you not try to start some small talk by saying “Hey, we both have the same initials !!!” 🙂
Shook hands with Shah Rukh Khan at the mumbai airport in immigration line while coming back to US in 2005 and also have his autograph
Have exchanged a few words with Sunil Dutt, Nargis, Helen, Pooja Bhatt, Mahesh Bhatt, Jeevan, Rajendra Kumar, Salman Khan, Arbaaz Kahn, Sohail khan, Vayjantimala, Waida Rehman, Jagdeep, Javed Jafferey and many more who live (or used to live earlier) in Pali Hill area.
How – All were regular customers at Mita’s Parent’s shop in Bandra.
– I have photo with Amir Khan. Spoke with Mamta Kulkarni. Amir & Mamta were shooting in Panchgini while we were on college trip there.
– I have participated in NrityaNatika with Ami Trivedi (Gujarati stage actor) & Diniar Contractor which came in Santakookadi on Doordarshan
– I have autograph from Poonam Dhilon & Padmini Kohlapuri

I have spoken many times with Jr Tipu Sultan (Boy who played teenage Tipu Sultan in the TV Serial)
Have met Madhavrao Scindia’s son Aditya Scindia.
Have spoken with Indian Cricketers Rahul Dravid, Javagal Srinath and Anil Kumble, also have their autograph.
Have spoken with Raza Murad many times at 5 Gardens while jogging/walking.
Sheetal Takkar (TV Serial Actress) and I were good friends, we studied French together.
Have exchanged words with our famous Saas from Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi – Apara Mehta
Actually I just realized my life is not in vain after all. 🙂
a) I shook hands with Gurdas Mann. Had gone to see the preview of “roohani taaquat” a horror film at a smaller preview theatre at Gaiety/Galaxy/Gemini complex in Bandra. Our neighbor was the cameraman and hence the invitation. Gurdas Mann was hero in the film and he also watched the movie. At the end I shook hands and told him “I liked your acting” :-).
b) Nitin Bali (the singer) was with me in the coaching class in 9th std. He eventually married VJ Ruby Bhatia. Nitin was a naughty kid and would try to stop a running fan with his hands. In fact, one day due to some mischief of his, my dad (who was the proprietor of the coaching class and who rarely gets angry) got angry and slapped him.
(I guess that could have driven him to leave studies and concentrate on singing 🙂 ).
Jayesh has a picture with “Big B” when he was a child. Mr. N.D Tiwari, x-CM of UttarPradesh,Uttaranchal/x-minister of external affairs of India knows Jayesh (through my fil ofcourse 🙂 and vice-versa. We both have our wedding reception picture with him.

had once played with Kareena Kapoor as a kid in the building compound of a relative whom we were visiting.
Next time may be I’ll visit the hot spot; Mita’s parents’ shop and catch hold of some folks there hopefully 🙂
When who was a child? Big B or Senior J
1) I have shaken hands with the Late Mrs. Indira Gandhi and have a picture taken with her. This was during our school trip to New Delhi, Agara.
We met Mrs. Gandhi at her residence, she came out in the lawn and spoke to us.
At the same spot, she was shot by her bodyguards.
2) I have spoken to Raj Babbar 2 to 3 times when he would visit a garage behind our building. He would always come in a Matador Van.
3) This was when mobile phones were not very popular in Mumbai…..Farroq Sheikh has many stopped by our shop in Prabhadevi, make a phone call, get chewing gum or chocolates….He would speak in fluent Gujarati, while all the time be stroking his hair…
Deep has a picture with Bill Clinton and spoken to Al Gore, Bill Gate and Johan Abraham.
Bill Clinton probably would be saying the same thing in his community “I have a picture with Deep Nishar”. 🙂
Isha Gopikar was from my school and she came to coach for a Fashion Show hosted by NIIT Matunga ….so everyday she would come teach us to catwalk….this was much before the Company dhamak she did…..Bharat Kapoor the villian and now good man on TV lives in Matunga and my best friend is his Bahu…….I worked for sometime with Kirit SOmaiya a famous poilitician in Mumbai….have attended few TV shows to represent his NGO….
Also Falguni Phatak before she became Falguni Phatak had come to our building with her band to perform for a Sharad Poornima Nite and would regularly perform at Jain Social Group of Matunga……we used to hang by her during breaks….chat with her then in 1990 we didnt know she would become a star……and a rage in Mumbai and now India
Don Bosco Church, Five gardens, Irani at Kings circle were very famous locales for Movie Shootings and very often we would often bump into actors/actresses

remember some people whom I’ve actually met. Makes me feel good to give this list now 🙂
-I’ve exchanged a few words with Kalyanji-Anandji while on a vacation at the very famous Kutchi sanatorium in Lonavla.
-I’ve also met Sadhana Sargam who was Kalyanji bhai’s student & upcoming singer then.
-I’ve spoken on phone with Raveena Tandon (one of my friend in school had managed to get phone nos of film stars and we tried to catch hold of some and found Raveena. She was barely into the industry that time)
– I’ve seen & well, almost shook hands with Watson, the inventor of DNA, at TIFR, Mumbai.

Pratibha Patil the new President of India is from Jalgaon in Maharashtra. We have some Jalgaon connections in KV. (me born in jalgaon of course).
Wonder whether any of those connections have met the President. 🙂

I have met Pratibha Patil and chatted with her a bit. Her niece and i studied together in 11th/12th and met the president(not then) at her niece’s place.
Did some grocery shopping with Pierce Brosnan in Hawaii in Dec 2006. As soon as we recognised him, we said a hello and were surprised with a warm \’Namaste\’! Albeit, no pictures were allowed 🙁 Ofcourse living in bby I did come across lots and lots of bollywood stars……so no allure for any of that any more…. top of the memories: while watching a play at prithvi……2 seats aways: Shabana azmi and javed akhtar….3 rows below us, Abhishek bachaan, rinky khanna, neelam and lots of other stars i don\’t remember. My cousin did go and take a pic and autograph with abhishek. I liked the nice one-on-one with shabana about the play! a drive to film city…..watching big b shoot for a film, plus various tv series sets and lots of other actors shooting……did take autographs then!
Now now.. where do I even start 🙂

Got a chance to meet Benny Dayal – the singer. He has sung “Pappu cant dance saala”, “Aadat se Majboor (Ladies vs Ricky Bahl), “Kaise Mujhe” (Ghazini), and many other songs in Tamil. He got the Filmfare award for best upcoming talent few years back. And of course he is my new tenant too. 😉
@Prashant- Nice. We met AR Rahman last Mondy, spend nice couple of hours with him. Very humble guy.
