Recently when we went to Lake Tahoe, we visited Adventure Mountain (near Sierra at Tahoe) for sledding. We had lot of fun and hence writing this review.
Adventure Mountain is cheap compared to other tubing places since you just need to pay for parking only (15$). However you do need to have your own sleds or saucers or tubes. In case you dont have your own you can rent sleds from them. I dont think they have tubes for rent.
Adventure Mountain is 3 miles from Sierra at Tahoe. They have about 7-8 lanes which are groomed. They have one baby slope lane which is good for tiny tots. If you can acquire multiple kinds of sliding equipment from friends and go it will be great fun. For example, the sled, the saucer, the flat sled, tube.
There is no moving carpet or lifts to take you to top of slope. So you need to walk up. But the slope is not that bad to walk up. Once on top there is not much queue to go down. So you can go up and down pretty quickly. You can experiment going face down as well. That was awesome fun.
Since there is no supervision you need to be extra careful. And if you go there with kids you need to have monitor them so that they dont come in the way of other sledders and get hurt. During initial portion of the day there is not much crowd. So probably good to go there early when they open. They have a few picnic benches. Better to take your own lunch here since the snack shop has limited options. It has chemical toilets and not the flush ones.
Thanks to our wonderful KVites for recommending this place. Considering the price its definitely worth it.
