Last week I posted enhancements to past events with the addition of photo albums. This week, the focus is to provide some enhancements and guidance to future events.
Any event that has more than 2 family attendees will now be promoted on the top of KV page with images, etc at the beginning of the week. The hope is to have more people organizing and leading events. And to have more participation for these events. Its becoming increasingly difficult to find a single common day that works for everyone for events due to the various classes that kids go, other commitments, etc. Instead folks can organize events on smaller scale as per their schedule. An example would be hikes. Everyone wont be able to attend every hike. But if hikes get organized by various individuals instead of just a few then everyone in KV will be able to attend at least some of them. So come forward and organize that hike that you always wanted to do. You could be surprised as to how many other people are interested in the same hike as you.
Hikes is just one example. But this could be extended to other events like playdates, swimming, roller skating, camping, etc. If you are looking for company for your event post it on KV. :-). We will promote your event but on your part you need to make sure that you are Confirmed for your own Event. 🙂 . No Laziness on that front. 😉
Post event, any albums posted for any event will be promoted for a while on the front page.
Some other minor enhancements that are live or are upcoming:
– Optional Address field on events (will automatically produce a google maps link). Easy for attendees to get directions.
– Ability to mark certain photos in an event as showcase photos. These showcase photos will be shown as part of “Photo of the Day” module on Frontpage. Will be shown to logged in users only.
