Spring Picnic 2010 – date and venue

Since we all like to have well advance notice of events to plan our weekends, now is a good time to start discussing possible dates and venues for Spring Picnic 2010.

Choosing a pathshala free Sunday, that would bring us to Sunday Apr 25th or Sunday May 9th.

Any objections to either of these dates?

For venue, how about Almaden Lake Park in San Jose? Any other suggestions?

For newcomers, Spring Picnic is our potluck picnic which usually lasts from 10.30 am to around 5 pm. So practically a whole day affair. Folks bring food for themselves plus a little more to share. In the end, it becomes a feast with lot of food varieties.

  4. Given that camping this year is in May, vote for Apr 25th :).

  5. Prefer April 25th (Parents from India will be able to attend)

  6. ok with both dates.

  7. would prefer April 25th

  8. ok with either dates.

  9. both days work.

  10. Based on the feedback, Lets settle on Sunday, Apr 25th for the date.

How about venue? Any suggestions apart from Almaden Lake Park in San Jose?

  11. How about a park outside of Santa Clara county. May be north of Santa Clara county off 101/280.

  12. We are in, & fine with 25th April.

  13. Huddart County Park in Woodside, CA is another option for the Spring Picnic.

  14. Reviews suggest Huddart is great for running but not for games – see quote from review – “Huddart county park has some beautiful redwoods and great group picnic grounds. Unfortunately their staff is quite stubborn and wouldn’t allow my group to play games of capture-the-flag because it was an “athletic activity”, which is strictly forbidden in this park. WHAT????”

so no cricket, Volley ball, etc???

  15. Agreed Jaideep. Huddart is good for hike but not for picnic.

Shall we decide on Almaden Lake Park in San Jose? Can San Jose residents who have been here give their opinions.

As per reviews, it has good walking trails, nice playstructure, paddle boats, beach area, bocce ball courts, etc.
