KV Halloween Get-together

Wonder whether there is interest in getting together for Halloween. It will be fun to watch the kids in costumes and for that matter adults too. The Kids will surely have loads of fun.

We (Adults and Kids) can carve pumpkin together. Some of the options are :

1) Friday, Oct 27 : Get-together for pumpkin carving and costume party. (Pizza for dinner).

2) Saturday, Oct 28: Get-together for pumpkin carving and costume party. (Pizza for dinner)

3) Tuesday, Oct 31: Kids get together and visit various houses in a particular area on the Actual Halloween Day.

Let me know if anyone is interested in any of these options and we can then celebrate Halloween together. It will be a FUN event. We will make it short and sweet.

  1. Boo…Great idea. I would go for first option first. But where will we do it at Remington Club House?

  2. On the day of halloween, I think kids would like to go in their neighborhood for trick or treating. So 31st might not work.

  3. I agree with Amisha

  4. Dont worry!! 31st was just thrown in the mix just to increase the options.

But What about Fri or Sat? Are people enthu? We can do it in the garage or backyard. Preferably the garage due to cold factor. We offer our house as a possible venue.

    Adults and Kids both welcome.

I dont think the clubhouse can be a venue because carving pumpkins will create mess. If we are only thinking about costume party then clubhouse can be an option if that is available of course. 🙂

  5. I opt for Saturday. And certainly a very good thought. I dont mind keeping it at my place. But pumpkin carving being messy cannot do it in my garage since it is half carpeted. If we dont mind in the backyard we can do it it at place too.

  6. We can make it on Friday evening (10/27/2006) or Saturday afternoon. Won’t be possible on Saturday evening.

  7. To avoid the mess, we have 3 big talpatris. The one that we use during camping.

  8. Parul’s backyard has the added advantage that it has a wooden area which can be used as a stage and kids in costumes can do a catwalk and maybe act out their character (if they are in the mood).

We have 2 portable heaters to handle the cold.

  9. Excellent idea. Sat afternoon doesn’t work for us. Friday/ Sat eve we can make it.

  10. My vote is for Friday evening.
If we do pumpkin carving as well as Costume, kids might damage their costumes

  11. Bummer.. can’t make it on Friday and Saturday.
How about throwing in Sunday a choice for this event?

BTW, Happy Hollow Zoo and Park has a Halloween event on Sunday for which we were thinking of going. Interested?

  12. Sat evening won’t work for us either. We opt for Fri night or Sat morning.

  13. OK. So Lets Decide for Friday. So that people can have 2 full days for other things. We will make it short and sweet.

About the venue, will have to be between Our house or Parul’s house. (Is Parul and family available for Friday?)

  14. So what are you planning? Pumpkin carving and/or costume party?

  15. How about Pumpkin carving contest for Dad?

  16. I say we just do pumpkin carving no costume, as kids will anyway wear costume in the school & on 31st. Carving is something kids as well parents might not do otherwise.

  17. I dont think all kids will be interested in carving. Those who want to take a pumpkin home for decoration should bring a pumpkin. Those who dont, they can help out with the pumpkins that are there. So just a few pumpkins will be carved as such. That way everyone gets a taste of pumkin carving. Pumpkin carvers can arrive a bit early.

Costume Party is definitely ON for adults and kids. + some games. We can have a costume cat-walk where all adults and kids in costumes have to say something. I will be in costume for sure. ;-). Costume can mean as simple as wearing a mask or wearing your clothes in a particular style.

We can decide whatever the majority feels like doing. Ideas for an interesting evening welcome.

  18. In the school kids play cake walk in their fall festival program. I am sure Mita/Rashmi/kalpa might know about it. i will find about it from my friend and let you all know. (I know for sure that the winner gets to eat cake 🙂 in the game, hence called cake walk)

Kids might not do pumpkin carving. Costume party will definitely be fun.

  19. so where will be the halloween get together?

  20. Hmmmm…. Looks like KV Kids will have to wait some more time before they are able to see each other in costumes. 🙁

Due to various reasons including Diwali Practice Sessions which are packing the coming weekend and the non-availability of a bunch of folks on Sat (Friday will become a bit hectic for everyone) we will drop the Halloween idea for the time being.

Hopefully can do this sometime later during the non-busy early part of next year.

Me and Dimple are planning to do some pumkin carving at our home on Fri or Sat. Feel Free to coordinate with us if you are interested in the same.
