Cal Skate of Milpitas

This past Sat, a few of us (Us, Nitul, Nilesh, Hasmukh) bumped into each other accidentally at the Cal Skate of Milpitas. Its a roller skating rink (wooden floors).

It seems very popular with Indians. 95% of the people were Indians. The session that we went to “Tiny Tots” is from 10-12 on Saturdays. You can come in at 9.45 am to avoid the queue. The Charges are 6$ for skaters (this includes the quad roller skates rental as well. For inline skate rentals the fees are 3$ more). You can also bring in your own inline skates. There is no fee for “parent” spectators.

From 10 – 10.45 they allow shoe wearing parents to accompany their kids on the skating floor.
From 10.45 – 11.15 they do group coaching. Which means they will give 5-6 tips to learn skating.
From 11.15 – 12 only those who have skates can be on the floor.

They play music also and the whole thing is pretty fun for kids and adult skaters too.

They also offer a Skater Value Charge Card which is a 100$ worth card available for 85$.

They have got various other sessions too like Retro night, etc, etc. Check out their website and skating schedule at :

If you plan to visit, please take care of wearing all the necessary knee and arm guards just to be safe.

  1. Thanks for the information Prashant.
The rates are really cheap. Wonder what is the difference between the 1/2/3 star and tiny tots. And 5+ are also allowed in tiny tots ??

  2. Tiny Tots is 10 and under. :-). Adults are also skating at same time but most are parents.

More information on 1-star, 2-star is here:
    http://www.calskatemilpitas.com/classes.html

I will find out if 1/2/3-star class means more one on one time with the coach.

  3. 1/2/3/ star are the levels where u can skate in speed but that is after you know the basics

  4. Yesterday some of us went to the Thurs session which was free admission (rental extra if you need skates). Most skaters were expert skaters and it was fun watching them. To me it looked like ghosts were moving in the room dancing to the music in a trance. These skaters were that much smooth. :-). Each one was in his own world doing tricks whizzing here and there with utmost ease.

Was less crowded too and more fun for the kids (Kairavi, Aayush Aarshi).
