Do you have any first day “memorable” stories?

Today i heard a story from a friend and that was the inspiration for this post.

1. First day @ job, nanny locks herself and child in garage.

I know of another incident as well –

First day in new home, door locked from inside,ร‚ย  have the garage door opener with them but electricity gone for few hours ๐Ÿ™

Hence this post to go down the memory lane andร‚ย bring more life on KV ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Well this is not first day type. But initially i never knew that doors can be locked without key. I always used to use key to lock apt door.

Then a friend showed me that I can just turn the lock upside and shut the door and it will be locked. I started locking the door this way.

And of course in a very short time there arose a situation where I had locked the door with the oven on inside and I had no key on me. Then I cursed the friend for showing me to lock without a key. ๐Ÿ™‚

  2. First Day of Dimple in USA -> Lands in Airport in Ohio at 2 in the night with no one present to pick her up.

  3. Our quick writer beat me again with my comment.

  4. I gave you three days. :-). Needed some activity on KV.

  5. Here is Full story of My first day in US – >
My connecting flight from Newark to Columbus, Ohio gets canceled due to low number of passenger in the flight. Rescheduled flight is few hours later. They make me check in my hand luggage at gate for some reason. I just take out one book to read and folder with documents in plastic bag. Soon after boarding the flight, I doze off. When I wake up after few hours, I almost loose my contact lenses. We are on ground, but it turns out plane is still in Newark airport due to weather condition. I arrive at Columbus airport at 2am in the morning. Nobody to pick me up, my luggage had arrived in different flight; I can see it in airline office but can not get it since office is closed. From a single open counter I manage to call my recruiter, who said it will take him around 1hr. to reach. In minutes airport gets deserted, I am sitting there along, chanting Navkar Mantra. And to top off the sequence of events, while in car, recruiter comments that usually nobody calls him at such odd hour. ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. This may be to the envy of a lot of first day stories like Dimple:

Day 1 – I have my friend waiting to pick me up at the airport. Takes me for a quick snack of idli wada before reaching home.
Day 2 – he has Ganpati at his house. There are around 30 -40 desi people in the house. We have aarti followed by dinner of pulav kadhi and jalebi. This never happened in the 5 years I was out of bombay!
Day 3 – I leave office early, go to temple for Pratikaman like any other day of pancham so far
