Have you ever wondered about the inconspicuous people in your lives. People that you don’t know personally but you keep seeing them regularly in your day to day life at about the same time of the day. This can be the crossing guard helping children cross the roads at school time, a particular parent walking his kid to school, a security guard at your office, the food attendant at your cafeteria, the janitor, the office colleague whom you don’t know personally but who sits in your floor, the person jogging by your house every day, familiar faces in the park, etc, etc. In India it used to be the building watchman, the car washer, the newspaper guy, the traffic policeman near your home, familiar unknown faces in the train, same male/female at the bus stop, etc, etc.
You see them regularly and though you don’t interact with them as you hurriedly go about your routine, your mind still subconsciously registers their presence. Sometimes your mind does give you a little luxury of thinking about how their lives must be outside of the time that they come in your vision. Maybe there is a hidden comfort that your mind gets upon seeing the regular faces in your daily life. If however someday you don’t see them then your mind registers a small alert wondering what happened to them, why are they not there at their regular place at the regular time. Of course the alert is not big enough for you to take some action since they were unknown in the first place. But enough to make you wonder and appreciate all the Inconspicuous people in your daily routine who are part of your life and yet not part of it. 🙂 .
Who are the Inconspicuous in your lives? Do you think about them?
