Treehouse Resort Gateaway

During this Spring break we took a road trip to Cave Junction, Oregon. Driving on 101 past SFo. is nothing short of wonder, with changing landscape, passing through serene Marine County, beautiful Mendocino, the wineries, the small coastal towns along the way but the highlight of this road trip was driving down Humboldt County. Those majestic redwood giants are awe-aspiring, some as young as 100 years old and some dating back to 1000 of years. The destination ‘Out n About Treehouse Resort’ was a perfect family gateway with children. The destination was as wonderful as the journey !!!

Here begins A Much Awaited Trip …

Day 1 : We started our 8 hr long drive at 6 in the morning. A quick stop at Starbucks for fuel set us on a drive for 4 hours into the redwoods. Here we took a detour on ‘ Avenue of Giants’ entered at the Phillipsville exit, a road that runs parallel to 101 but takes you through redwood national park * one of the most scenic drive. The first stop here was at ‘The Chimney Tree’.

Driving Slow, Enjoying the Surroundings, Taking in the Beauty of this place the next stop on our list is ‘The Shrine Drive thru Tree’. A fun little place to enjoy walking/ driving thru the tree, great opportunity to take some pics. and a break for lunch.
From here, we drove to the treehouse for our 2 night stay.

‘Out n About Treehouse Resort’:An adventurous and magical stay. The treehouse are perched on top of the trees anywhere between 40-80 feet high connected by swinging bridges, rope swing, tire swing. A super fun place for the boys/girls and adults alike!

It’s a place to Relax and getaway from the busy day to day life, in true sense coz’ No Network for most part of our trip :))
In the evening everyone gets together by the camp fire, it’s time for some s’mores , hot cocoa and some wine !!! A perfect end to the day 1.

Day 2
For early morning risers it is a great opportunity to walk the grounds, take-in the quiet and stillness of the place, walk around the big field with the backdrop of the redwood forests.
The day begins with a hot breakfast in common dining area. They offered a good spread of continental breakfast. The cooks in the kitchen were very accommodating of our special vegetarian breakfast request. We found enough options for breakfast items during our stay. ( Note* to make special request at bookings)
Now, it was time for Zipline Adventure (about 3 hr ) thru the Redwoods. It was an exhilarating experience for children and adults ( ….so I hear 🙂 They also offer Horseback riding! A small pond for a dip during hot summer days.
Day 2 was all about relaxing !

Day 3
A visit to Wild Cat World Park is a Must !!! It was beyond any of our expectations. Coming Up, Close and Personal with these fierce cats was at times hair raising experience and a jaw dropping experience at other times.

Today, we head down to Redcreast Resort about 4 hr drive south for 1 night stay. On the way a stop at Trees of Mystery

And a short hike in Fern Canyon in Prairie Redwood SP is not to be missed. Redcrest Resort was an ideal setting for spending a night or two in one of their cottages. The place is right in the middle of the state park, we even had a small trail start right outside the cottage that led to a walk-in tree:)

Day 4
On the Last Day of our trip, we start our journey back. The first stop is for a easy hike at Founders Grove. A 0.5 ml hike took us almost 2 hr. Lots of pic. clicks, climbing the fallen trees, exploring the uprooted giants, it’s absolutely beautiful. From there we head to Chandlier Tree, for yet another Drive thru tree experience. This is a good spot for picnicking in the meadow near by.
This is the Last stop before we head back home with a truck load of wonderful memories, a weekend spent in natures beauty, relaxed and rejuvenated !!!

* Oregon Caves is about 40mins drive from treehouse. It’s a great place to visit, but we decided to skip it due to limitation of time. Maybe Next-time 🙂

*Note: Food options are almost non-existent in this part of the area especially for is. Be sure to carry all the meals/snacks for the entire duration of the stay.

*For Campfire, they had wood available but have to carry other items needed.

*Check-out KV facebook for pics !
