Gaam Panchaat is back again. We promised we will do this once a quarter. So now is the time for Q1-2015.
Last time we dealt with Bay Area Cities. This time we will target your gaam in Kutch.
So if your gaam starts from A through F then please provide a brief update of something that happened in your life recently. You need to mention your gaam and your wife’s gaam in the update.
For example :
Greetings from Harish Maru (Gaam: Faradri, Wife’s Gaam: Ramania). I changed my job recently and now am working with Apple. We recently bought a house in the Pleasanton area
By doing this we hope to know each other better. Next week we will open up for Gaams “G-L”.
Our Q4 2014 Gaam Panchaat were as follows:

Speaking of gaam bada, last year Ram uncle from Minnesota created a facebook group connecting Badai’s in USA. We have about 6-7 KV families from gaam Bada. So if you are from gaam bada and not yet part of that group, then please reach out to me.

Reserve the right to post again in the category for gaam beginning with “N” in a few weeks time.
Recently (January’15) switched companies from GE to GE Healthcare where I manage the software analytics portfolio for all of GE HC. Recently went to Hungary to meet my development teams and plan out our next release. Stayed in a hotel on the river front of the Danube river overlooking their beautiful palace and museums. Even went and saw a winery for a team building event. On the return weekend, met up with a college friend in UK – after 27 years and also visited the palace where Winston Churchill lived. Last weekend was a fun filled event back home with part of the KV community when we met to play Holi in Milpitas and the next day met to play VolleyBall and Frisbee.
Kalpendu – gaam bhojay. married to jaina shah-Beraja. I have never been to kutch but I love looking up maps and can spend hours on google maps. I recently zoomed in to Kutch region on google maps. The geography is very interesting. Many of the villages are ‘almost’ coastal. They are about 30 km from the coast, ~45 minutes’ drive. Mandavi seems has a touristy beach but the rest of coastline is , expectedly un-developed. Has anyone visited a local beach? I was also surprised to see many water bodies-not sure if they are fresh water lakes. The proximity to Pakistan was eerie. I always wonder how much of our genetic lines go back to the now Sindh, Pakistan. Are we decedents of the nomadic tribal’s shunting back and forth across the Rann of Kutch? ( I had a college at work from Pakistan whose last name was , ‘Damji’).
When my parents come next week, I intend to show dad ‘kutch-from-above’ and see if he can identify his childhood hideouts, the family ‘khetar’, et al.
Sneha gaam Dumra…..have never visited Dumra though. My only visit to Kutch has been a touristy adventure. Stayed with my neighbor in Nani Khakhar lovely village very green and rich-full of beautiful wadis.
Visited local beaches beautiful…wind mills, Vijay Vilas Palace(before the earthquake), Bhuj Musuem, the temple in Anjar ‘Jesal Toral ni Samadhi’, ate at local markets. Kutch is a true tourist gem -full of culture, artistic displays, history, rich food……….Rann of Kutch on my travel wish list.
Nice updates, but just to clarify to previous 2 posters. You need to write about a recent update in your life, not about Kutch :-). Its ok to write about Kutch too, but an update also would be nice. I know Sneha has an interesting update to share for sure.
Nitul Haria from kutch gaam Devpur reporting…
It’s been 4 years now that I haven’t been to India and I am dying for an opportunity and hoping to grab it tight… After my last visit my parents visited us 2 years in a row so no point visiting India then and later on switched jobs so now with Visa issues don’t want to risk my self.
Have been travelling a lot to different temple’s in USA since past 3-4 years and it’s amazing to see how each center operates differently. Out of the many temples I have visited, one which I like the most so far are the Astapad Tirth in New York on Ithaca Street and the Florida temple.
