1. Avatar –
Next time you visit Golden Gate, head over to Sausalito for a unique Indian fusion.
Thanks to Nidhi for recommending this place. We really enjoyed the food and the hospitality.
Very friendly owner who caters to any needs of yours. They have a menu but as soon as you get seated he greets and tells you forget the menu and I will bring something for you :-). Now if you have a strict diet etc – let him know and he will cook it for you accordingly.
It’s a small place, maybe seating for approximately 30-35 people.

And if you go here, then you can also check out the Bay Area Model – it is a working replica of San Francisco Bay and Sacramento Delta. Something very unique and educational for kids and fun for adults.

3. Madurai Idli Kadai –
A place that is probably known to all Sunnyvale folks.
A hole in the wall kinda place but delicious south indian food.
Had heard about their breakfast rush from fellow KVites sometime early last year, finally Ankit managed to give us a taste during holidays.
I usually never eat idli outside but their idli’s are super super soft !
The restaurant is very very small, pick up is majority of the business !
If they start delivering home, am sure it will be a BIG hit.

6. Last but not the least any recommendations for whole foods dosateria ??
Cupertino and Fremont Whole foods has a dosa counter, chai, frankies and few other desi varieties.
How many of you have tried it?

14 Comments:

  1. 1. avoid the whole foods dosateria. Frankies have the masala from masala dosa rolled into a half baked wrap. Masala is baked potatoes with tumeric, and pretty bland. And it is mighty expensive.
    2. veggie grill is truly a vegan gem, low cost creative cuisine.
3..Gumba in cupertino is a recent convert from italian to indian-italian. They have a large variety of ‘indian’ pizzas
    4. Happiness cafe- vegan, nice. But the texture of the food is meat based and some may find unappetizing.

  2. Thanks Bhavini for the recos. Have not tried any of them. So need to start one by one. 🙂
