KV Gaam Panchaat – Cities O to Z

Inviting some updates from Cities O to Z in the Bay Area for our KV Gaam Panchaat.

Example Cities: San Jose, Sunnyvale, Santa Clara, San Ramon, Santa Rosa, Palo Alto, Redwood City, San Francisco, etc.

Ideally “S” should have it’s own bucket since so many cities start with S. But for this time we will club it with other cities in O to Z since there are not that many cities apart from S in that bucket. Next time we will probably divide by North, South, East, West.

Remember you need to provide your name, your city name and your update(s).

  1. Amit/Sneha and NN.
Sunnyvale Downtown is becoming the new Hot spot.
Lost of companies coming up around downtown area….to name a few big ones, we have Apple, Linkedin and Yahoo.
Not to mention that there is at least one Indian restaurant that opens up every quarter in Sunnyvale. Latest is Lovely Sweets and Snacks has started a new location at the intersection of EL Camino and Wolfe.
Few years ago Sunnyvale/Santa Clara use to be KV hub….with a majority of KVites living just a stone’s throw away from each other (within a radius of 5 miles.)

  2. Lost of companies……lots of companies…….(typo)

However an American does feel lost in the foreign land of Sunnyvale 🙂

  4. Vandana from Pleasanton. Pleasanton is extremely beautiful. It has 42 parks and 24 miles of trails.
As per 17th September USA Today news paper Pleasanton, CA ranked number four in a recent survey of America’s 50 best cities to Live In.

  5. Hello to Kutchvalley janata from Ameeta & Sanjay Gala. Sunnyvale has been our hometown for 14 out of 17 years in the US.

Amongst all these high tech companies, there is also a small fruit stand called C. J. Olson Cherries in the heart of Silicon Valley. It is located on the intersection of Mathilda and El Camino and has been at the same place for over 110 years, since 1899! They have been featured on Martha Stewart show.

And, here is something from wikipedia…..bollywood actor Imran Khan moved to Sunnyvale to finish school at Fremont High:)

  6. Updates from the City of Santa Clara. Myself & Dhaval have been living here for the last 2 years and enjoying it thoroughly.
With Halloween around the corner this is the perfect time to share our last year’s experience at Great America park. Great America is basically turned into a haunted them park at night. The mazes and haunted houses were very good. The decorations and costumes all throughout the park were well put together! The actors that play out these scary characters are well trained and highly scary
    Some tips.
    – Go preferably on Sunday’s , so you get to enjoy every little detail and no long queues.
    – I highly recommend it!! A fun place for people who don’t freak out.
Enjoy a Spooky, Creepy and Haunted Halloween!!

Next thing on my list is to visit the Lace Museum in Sunnyvale, noticed it when I was passing by last week. Researched a bit and found that it has free entry( they recommend $3 donation though). This is something different and very closeby, so I’d definitely give it a try.

  7. Cool updates so far and interesting statistics too.

Denil, Kudos to you, Falguni event went so smooth for all of us.

Sneha, Sunnyvale/Santa clara I think is still the KV hub, lots of people still stay close by.

Ameeta, CJ Olson Cherry festival is fun, live music etc.

Moving to the actual panchaat :-), Bhavini from San Jose.

Don’t have any recent update to share, this time of the year does get very busy for us with soccer games, pathshala, dance practices, dandia etc. FLL Robotics is the latest addition to the fall commitments.
Anyhow during summer this year we got a chance to visit some new parks. This post seems to be the perfect place to post that update.
First one, Lake Merced in San Francisco – beautiful location, amazing view, picnic tables by lake, easy parking within park, typical SF weather – morning fog and sunny afternoon.
Another one, Coyote Point Recreation Area in San Mateo. Amazed to see the number of picnic tables at this location. Big play area, nice trail to walk/bike, water views, beach like access.. Definitely a must visit.

  8. Agreed Bhavini Sunnyvale/Santa Clara still is a hub….but am talking about those days when KV was a smaller family than today and we were only handful of families of which majority lived in South Bay……..and KutchValley.com was the only to connect us all No FB and no WhatsApp groups…….Most of us only went to one Holi in Sunnyvale temple and one Garba location at GCA…..Diwali practices would mostly be either at Prashant’s home in Milpitas or Amita/Ajay’s clubhouse in Santa Clara…..feeling nostalgic 🙂

  9. However more the KVites more the fun…….its amazing even now the community is so close knit.

  10. San Jose – Capital of Silicon Valley

San Jose is the capital of Silicon (Santa Clara) Valley, where many large high-tech companies like Cisco, Ebay Hitachi ,Adobe are located. This area is also one of the world’s leading centers for medical treatment and research. Heart transplants, gene splicing, and transportable baby incubators were developed here.
San Jose (/?sæn ho??ze?/; Spanish: St. Joseph) is the third-largest city in California, the tenth-largest in the United States,[6] and the county seat of Santa Clara County. It is the largest city in Northern California. It is called the “Global city” because it is the melting pot of all cultures, races and ethnicity. It reached a mark of million plus in population this year.
This beautiful city is equi- distant from the awesome beaches of Santa Cruz and the happening city of San Francisco. In spite of all the rich culture , wonderful downtown, high tech offices it still has a quiet, serene neighborhoods where you could trace raccoons, dears , possums and even mountain lions on your everyday trails and hikes!
Proud to be a resident of San Jose !

  11. Hello All, Bhanik & Trishla here from San Jose, CA. We are living in San Jose since the last 1 and 1/2 years and thoroughly enjoying it.

Speaking of Mountain lions, be careful while venturing out alone in the night as this week a fellow San Jose resident caught one on tape posing on top of a Toyota Camry

There is also a fruit stall in San Jose right by Seely and Montague on the border of San Jose and Milpitas. They serve deliciously fresh fruits and vegetables. If you are in this part of the city, I would highly recommend to check them out

  12. Hello everyone,
This is Payal and Parin Gangar from San Ramon. We arrived here two months ago from Mumbai. We have the privilege of living in a gated community full of greenery and a beautiful Golf course in our backyard.

In this two months of our stay, as is the usual trend in America, we have seen our next door neighbor just once. However we have rather found some very unique residents in our neighborhood who ensure we don’t forget them by visiting our door-step almost every other day. I would like to introduce our friendly Garden Snake, San Francisco Alligator Lizard, variety of deer, Turkeys, etc.

They have ensured we don’t feel lonely.

  13. Payal & Vinay Rambhia (PVR) from Santa Clara. We moved to Santa Clara in Feb after getting married in Dec 2013. I managed to pull Vinay from East Bay to South Bay (San Ramon to Fremont to Santa Clara 😉 ). I’m learning Belly dance from Santa Clara Adult Education School and enjoying the new dance style.
