Poora Naam – Your Extended Full Name

My Full Name is : Prashant Pravin Shah

My Extended Full Name is : Prashant Pravin Velji Kanji Palan Shah

Velji is of course my grandfather and Kanji my great-grandfather and Palan my great-great-grandfather.  I have met only my grandfather and hence this information beyond grandfather comes to me from my dad.

In Naredi village in Kutch, there is a family tree given which goes back several generations. If we go by that tree then my full name is :

“Prashant Pravin Velji Kanji Palan Kheraj Varjang Vajaa Bhojo Kelan Khetal Kanal Punshi Hema Veera Dhara Vershi Sarang Bhima ”  Shah

Wow !! Whew !! 🙂

My real surname is “Nagda” Of Course.

  1. Woah! you have about 17 generations on the top of you head..
I am from Bhujpur.. I’ll have to check my family tree but i remember this lineage (7 generations):
“Hardik Anil Shantilal Velji Tejpar Vidhu Haldor Chheda”

Here is the family tree of Nagdas. I don’t know whether one can really go back 17 generations. I am confused whether the people listed in the trunk form a father-son hierarchy. If we disregard the people in the trunk and start from the branches then I have a 9 generation known lineage.

“Prashant Pravin Velji Kanji Palan Kheraj Varjang Vajaa Bhojo” Nagda

  3. There is a “bhatt-ji” designate for a “sur-name” who records all the new borns in the family and also carries a list of all your previous generations long before ancestry.com was invented :). I had met our “bhat-ji” when we added Arya’s name to his list. I need to track him down to get the family tree 🙂 BTW – The “bhatt-ji”‘s information is not available online and is only in the book which is closely guarded and is expensive to get and add information to it…:) 🙂

  4. My dad has it for Gada’s. Let me see if I can get a soft copy ( a long pedig ask from Jatin).. hope he does not read this ….

  5. We have it too for Gada’s, it goes up to 7 or 9 generations. One observation from that – it does not list female names for all generations, but just males. Hiten – would be interesting to compare ours, Jatin’s and yours, will help to know if any of the forefathers are same 🙂

  6. Yup. Females not being listed in the tree is a real bummer.

In this post we have tried to be gender neutral and asked for your ancestry either by listing mother’s mothers or father’s fathers.

Sadly although this is a post that everyone can contribute to, besides Hardik no one else has really given their lineage.

  7. Arey Prashant – lineage yaad thodi hai 🙂
Anyways here it goes for Gada’s –
    Panchariya Gada –>Tejshi –> Ladha –>Dharshi –>Kachra –>Rayshi –>Kunverji –> Nayan –> Jayesh –> Jash
