On 10/20/2013, our first daughter Raya completed 40 days. Over the first 40 days there was a lot to learn and a lot to read about parenting. Raya was born on Sept 10 2013, and since then a lot of things have changed as expected. There are sleepless nights and early mornings. An uninterrupted 8 hour sleep is on top of our wish lists.
With everything that has been going on, we cherish her cute little smiles. We enjoy every little move from a yawn to her staring at random things and the way she stretches her arms to wake up. ย These moments become extra special when you share them with family and friends. We were lucky to have Sweta’s mom with us to help. A special THANKS to all of our friends here in the bay area who helped us in the initial days and now keep visiting Raya every now and then.
I am no expert in giving advice to new parents, but i personally feel that parenting is like driving to a new destination with no maps. The roads are bumpy, but are filled with beautiful overlooks and moments to be captured and cherished. The curiousness of what lies at the end is what keeps us going.
Thanks for reading,
Kunal Haria and Sweta Nagda
Well written Kunal. Good you are enjoying the ride. The first 2000 days are full of innocence and cuteness. So you have plenty of wonderful days ahead. ๐
That’s so sweetly written..reminds me of our first child syndrome when Nivriti was born……Handy cam would be ready to capture every moment every move…..everything was such a delight and we would just not get over it…..
With second one all we cared about was some sleep and quiet time ๐
So enjoy the first one as much as you can…..
Kudos to you Kunal for writing a wonderful article, especially as a new parent when the list of chores to complete just keeps growing and sleep is what one wants.
A child gives birth to what is called as parenthood. So enjoy this new gift.
Well written Kunal. I like your analogy of parenthood with driving without maps.
8 hours sleepless night is in my wish list from last 3 years ๐
Take pictures, videos as they will make you relive the memories…
