Tried this for the first time and turned out to be good. Posting recipe for everyone’s reference (If you happen to make it, let us know how it turned out to be 😛 )
Ingredients:
1 Liter milk.
2 tbsp Ghee
4 tbsp coarse wheat flour.
2 tbsp Gond ( Â edible gum – Arabic crystals ).
10 oz sugar.
2 tsp nutmeg powder
1 tsp cardamon powder
Procedure:
Boil 1 liter of milk in a pan at slow flame (for 1-2 boils) and simultaneously in other pan add 2 tbsp of ghee and 4 tbsp of coarse wheat flour and saute it till it gets dark brown in color and cooked well ( like sheera).
Once it turns dark brown in color and well cooked add 2 tbsp Gond ( edible gum – Arabic crystals ) and keep mixing it , need to cook till its dark brown and not burnt.
Once it is cooked well add this mixture to milk which is been boiled simultaneously.
Keep stirring. In other pan put 10 oz sugar to caramelize it.
Cook till sugar turns into caramel (ie. consistency should be like water) .
Then add caramelized sugar into milk and keep stirring till it turns into mava (thick in consistency). Once it is thick ( will take some 1/2 hr or more  to thicken it) add nutmeg powder and cardamon powder.
Once it cools down , make small balls out of it and decorate with pistachios or almonds and you are all set to have this yummy dish once it cools down.
Thanks so much Trishla for sharing a new recipe. The color looks perfect and am sure it tasted delicious. Definitely look forward to trying it soon.
Few questions –
Roughly how many pieces does this make?
Is there a cup equivalent of 10 Oz sugar?
Thanks Bhavini!! I made some 25 small diff shapes out of it.
Generally 1 cup sugar is 7-8 oz. So you can approximate accordingly.
This turned out to be yummy. Thanks again for sharing a simple recipe, time consuming though ..
Good to know Bhavini Di!! When are we getting to taste :)!!!
