Has anyone used or heard of someone else using www.multichoiceinsurance.com to get insurance for visistors to US? What have you used in the recent past to insure your near and dear ones on their visit to the US?

multichoiceinsurance, visitorscoverage, insubuy pretty much are similar. multichoice seems to have a more comprehensive list of choices. None of them show India options however. For India options you can look at insurancepandit to do the comparison and do the research.
You must have probably looked at this one http://www.kavita.kutchvalley.com/?p=595
I looked into a few options recently for couple of people and here are few things that we went through:
1. Decide whether to go for limited or comprehensive coverage means. And there is a wide spectrum. Some limited plans are relatively very cheap but have severe limits. For example even if you buy a $45K policy, they have a ~$3000 limit on surgical treatment and max of $40 per physician visit etc :). There are others called comprehensive plans that cover 80-90% of almost everything upto the max value covered. Most or all from India including TATA-AIG are somewhere in between. The limits are not that bad and they maybe slightly cheaper than fully comprehensive plans in US. I have heard good things about TATA-AIG claim process from someone who had a first hand experience.
2. Two of the friends whom I recently helped with some research, had the view that they could go for higher deductible because either they have doctor friends or are willing to pay completely out of pocket for very small things. They really wanted coverage if big things happen. So they both went for higher deductible but comprehensive plans.
3. I haven’t done enough comparative research yet about the physician networks that each of the types of plans accept but this is an important aspect to be considered. The comprehensive plans that my friends bought had affiliation with large physician and hospital network.
And just in case you are wondering why I am so much interested in this topic :), I am currently working on adding visitor insurance comparison and purchase on my website. I am hoping to show India options as well and more importantly lots of q&as (forum style) that would hopefully provide value to people and help in demystifying this stuff. And believe it or not but I am actually now a licensed accident and health insurance agent in the state of California 🙂
Feel free to call me if you are interested in more details of what I found. I am still exploring lots of things but I can tell you what I know.
I have heard their talks on KLOK couple of times and they seem to mention an advantage with claim settlements and 24*7 coverage locally if you need any help.
Thanks for the link to the old post and your comments. I had searched KV for insurance and only saw the first page of links. I missed to see the “Previous…” link at the bottom of the page so did not get to that thread.
I am actually looking at insurance locally and not from India. Sahil is visiting us from Singapore.
I am also interested in covering for the larger incidents only and don’t mind covering for other things from packet. I will share here what I find out and how things stack up for future reference.
