Whats your favourite Falafel place?

Moving from SF…. we are not disappointed with falafels in south bay 🙂 So far our favourites are:

1. Dish-n-dash – Good flavour of sauces and good assembly of the wrap and great smoothies!

2. Oren’s hummus shop – the most amazing hot sauces I have ever eaten! They come on the side unlimited with fresh pita! I can make a meal of just that.

3. We recently discovered Falafel stop – perfect texture of the falafel ball and very fresh salads and pita bread – but a very basic menu, kind of like falafel drive in. But the good part is its mainly vegetarian (except for egg in a couple of dishes). So perfect for visiting parents who are particular about eating at veg. places.

Whats your favourite?

  1. We went to Fattoush in the city recently and enjoyed the food there. And Minati, may be you should recommend about some food places in the city, KV website is the default search for me 🙂

Dish-Dash is the favorite but its hard to get reservations for a big group there.

Here’s an old post related to falafel places –

  2. Swati’s Kitchen

  3. 1. Mediterennean grill house on castro, try eggplat falafel on spinach pita.
    2. Pita Pit in down town san jose- Very creative- build your own falafel-atleast 12 different sauce (you can put them all for free!)
    3. Holyland in san jose/santa clara- unknown place but very different (authentic?) falafels

  4. Thanks Kalpendu! So the variation in falafel comes from the style – Israeli vs. Lebaneses vs. Egyptian (its like south indian food – same yet different flavours of Sambar/chutney depending on the region – Tamilnad vs. Andhra style vs. Kannada…)

Also the texture varies based on chickpea falafel vs. fava beans….

  5. As noted in the earlier blog post posted by Bhavini, the following are 2 of my favorites :

    1) Falafel Drive-in in San Jose

    2) Falafel Etc in Fremont

  6. Minati, could u give us some more detail gyan wrt region based variation.

  7. Dimple, don’t have more gyaan than that….. I was hoping I would gain some knowledge myself 🙂

  8. I tried the Falafels drive in on Steven’s creek and loved their falafel wrap.

I also like Dish Dash in Sunnyvale and and Falafel bite on Lawrence Exp (Near Arques)
