On Aug 5/6 2011, some of KVites who have returned to India (R2Ied) met in Lonawala. There were 3 families from Mumbai (Samir, Sanjay1, Jeinay) and 3 from Pune (Kalpesh, Jignesh, Prashant).
Lonawala is very popular during monsoons and hence hard to get accomodations. Since we decided only 2 weeks back we had to settle for whatever was available. We rented a bungalow about 15 mins away from Lonawala on the old Mumbai-Pune highway. Its called “Rasa Villa“.
It was a 3 bedroom bungalow with 7 washrooms. There was plenty of parking for 6-7 cars. And good space outside and inside for kids to play. It had a swimming pool which was not cleaned due to rains and hence unusable.
While in Lonawala we witnessed some amazing heavy rains and fog. It rained often and sun was not seen at all while we were there. We ate twice at Maneckchand Sanetorium and once at Cream Center. Cream Center was a real good place with good ambience. Maneckchand was standard buffet but very economical. We mostly hung out together and went for a small walk at MTDC Resort. Due to rainy season boating was closed.
At Monkey Point we could see many waterfalls at once (from a distance) just like Yosemite. There were no Monkeys though.
We chatted away late into the night while the kids kept playing. Breakfast was fun and on the floor. We all had brought some nashta from home which we ate along with tea from the nearby hotel. Whether in USA or in India, you can be ensured that food is never in short supply with KVites. 🙂
Next Day we went to Tiger Falls which is further along the road than the famous Bushy Dam. Tiger falls is supposedly good place for families since Bushy Dam is too crowded and all kind of people are there at Bushy Dam. Tiger Falls was very foggy. So you need to drive carefully. We had fun in the stream at Tiger Falls.
Overall a good fun trip with good reunion with KV folks.

Prashant,

@Nilesh, we are still KVites, not Ex-KVites. 🙂
Nice to see everyone. Lonawala looks very beautiful and scenic in monsoon season.
Hello to everyone…. Nice to see all of you… What a beautiful place for a great group to have fun….
@Prashant – I agree you are not Ex-KVites – In fact you are KVites in eXile = KXites. Lets all agree on this term and move on.
Kya baat hai Swati – I agree 🙂 Now I know why Kalpa did’nt make it for the trip 🙂
Nice pics.
I guess the post should be renamed to “KX Reunion at Lonavala” 🙂
Any place which gets lots of rains, are worth visiting in the month of Aug – early Sep. time frame, Since it has already got 2 months of rainfall, the water in the falls is also plenty.
A BIG hello to all the KVites !!
@Prashant,
You are P-KVites or you can be M-KVites or KXites…but not KVites. You want the cake and eat it too?….Apun kee hindi language bolne ka matlab….Tu kaju bhee khayega…and Kish-mish be kayega kya re? 🙂
