New Bhimas Restaurant in Artesia, LA

During the long weekend we were in LA and visited Pioneer Blvd in Artesia for some Indian food. We had been to this place during the last visit and had liked their food, so without any wasting any time decided to go there again. Surprisingly the name of restaurant changed when we went this time, seems like it’s so common in Indian culture to change names :). It was called Tirupathi Bhimas then and now New Bhimas. The restaurant had moved from it’s upstairs location to downstairs. There was valet parking in the complex, with 2 cops standing, scary when you enter a place with cops at the entrance. Nevertheless we went inside. The ambience was little dull compared to before.
But the food quality was as good as before. We ordered most of the Dosa varieties, Uttapam and they were yum yum yummy. The size of each Dosa was huge even for adults 🙂 Sambhar was not at all spicy unlike the bay area south indian restaurants where the sambhar always is on the spicier side :(. Good Dosa varities – similar to what we get here and to add had a Aloo chat Dosa (don’t recollect seeing it here) as well. We also ordered Gobi Manchurian and this was perfect as well.
So if you are in LA and crave for some south indian food, give New Bhimas a try !

  1. Good info Bhavini. We were in LA last weekend and went to Rajdhani restaurant on Pioneer Blvd. They have good Guju Thali with hot roti, puri and pulan poli were served on the table. All shaak and farshan were good and made with less oil. Also there khandvi was yummy. They have parking in the same building and also on terrace. If you are in a mood for typical homemade guju food than Rajdhani is the place for you to visit. Have not seen same kind of Guju Thali being offered in Bay Area.

  2. I have tried a snack place across the street owned by JayBharat (can’t remember the name) – they only serve snacks or small plates like khichdi kadhi but no thali. Their snacks were very good. Amiri Khaman was awesome – came steaming HOT!

  3. Thanks for the info Vandana. FYI – Deedee’s has weekend regional buffet menu (gujurati, rajasthani, maharashtrian etc). And has puran poli in one of the regional menu as well.

  4. We have tried their Kathiyawadi menu @ Deedee’s..Rotla, Odu, Faradi Kachori was yummmmmmm.
Now want to try their Rajasthani Menu with Choorma, Dal Batti
