We went to Pinecrest Lake Resort for the 4th July long weekend along with Sneha and Amit’s family. It was a 3 hour drive from Bay Area. We went on Friday evening and were back on Sunday evening. We lived in a town house at Pinecrest Lake Resort. The location was perfect….right near the lake. The house was spacious and had a patio with a grill. It had a full kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, gas, basic cooking range.
This place has a big lake, where people were fishing, swimming, kayaking. Also there are boat rentals available for peddle boat, motor boats for small (5 people) and big groups (15 people).
It has camping sites to pitch tents. It has a huge amphitheatre, picnic benches and lot of open space to play around. There are numerous wilderness trails [Not stroller friendly though]
It was a good vacation at a good location. I heavily recommend this place for KV camping.
P.S.: There were very few desi’s and it is surprising for a place so close to Bay Area for this to be true.

I second, third Hiten. Thanks to Ami for this new find.
Location was really beautiful. Our townhome was a minute away from the lake.
Probably May long weekend is not the right weekend as it may be really cold..July long weekend is the right choice. Water was cold but then the temperature was 90’s so it was not that bad. Nivriti and myself were in water for 2 hours.
Big Trees is on West side of the Stanislaus National Park and PineCrest on the East side.
There is nothing available in the radius of 30 miles not even a major grocery store.
On the way, Nivriti was happy looking at cows and horses and sheeps on the farms and ranches.
Pinecrest was on the shortlist of campsites since few years but dont remember now why we did not do it (Maybe they dont allow site specific reservations?). From pictures it always looked very attractive. Definitely should consider it for future campings if reservation is allowed.
Hiten/Sneha – How about sharing some pictures about lake/facility 🙂
