Why does the bathroom basin have a rectangular hole on one side?

I have wondered why does the bathroom basin have a hole on one side? Do you know?

This is the overflow drain. The presence of this secondary drain in the sink helps to prevent the basin from filling completely and possibly overflowing onto the surrounding floor.

An overflow drain is often located an equitable distance from the rim, but still significantly higher than the primary drain located at the bottom of the receptacle.

F and J. These have a small embossed line on them so people with typing skills know where to anchor their fingers.

Even number 5 on the numeric key pad on the right has it for the same reason.

Right Ameeta. One of my laptops also has the embossed line on the down arrow key.
And ewwwww Jeegar. No one will want to touch your laptop ever.
