CHERRY PICKING

Some of us were discussing about Cherry Picking at Brentwood. I think considering all the KV events and Pathshala May 22nd seems to be the best day. If you are interested please let us know.

  1. We are interested in Cherry picking. Need to find out whether the farms would be open before the long weekend.

  2. I am planning to call the farms. Do you have suggestions on any farms? As per the website cherry picking should have already started.

  3. We usually go to Nunn Better Farms. Good cherries and lots of trees.

  4. I checked the websites for cherry picking. They are going to open end of May. How about first week of June, Saturday or Sunday whatever is convenient to majority of people . Please email your preferances.

  5. Since first week of sunday in June is the pathshala day, we can go on saturday or on sunday a week after.

  6. If you folks decide 2nd week of june, then we may be able to join.

  7. cannot commit but I will try to join whenever you decide…

  8. Is this plan still on? Our friends went last week and they said, if you want to go, do it by 5/6 Jun, else it will be almost over…..

We are planning on going this weekend…..if others are going, we can join!

  9. We can join this saturday (June 5th) morning.

  10. I might also be able to join this sat

  11. Have heard good reviews about Lopez and DC…….Lopez also had peach and strawberries

  12. HI,

we had last weekend it was very hot but cherry picking was more fun than strawberries picking.
so please keep in mind about the heat and kids get tired . I think the best time to enter the farms is about 3 or 4 in the evening since the wind starts blowing atleast .

  13. IF it is better to go after 2.00pm how about going after pathshala

  14. We wont be able to join u all. But would suggest to go for morning session. I have heard farms close down late afternoon as matured crop gets picked up for the day.

  15. We can go to Lopez farm. Lets meet at around 10:30.

  16. Here is a compiled response that Leena sent from the Oracle Mailing List:

We usually go to Seko Ranch Cherries 100 Eureka Ave., West of Walnut Blvd., Brentwood, CA 94513
The farm right across street (forget the name) sells picked loquat and you could pick peach (white and yellow)

We went to DC’s extraordinary cherries in Brentwood last weekend. The cherry trees are quite short, so there is no ladders needed. My 3-year-old son enjoyed cherry picking all by himself. It’s $2.50/lb if you want to take home. http://www.yelp.com/biz/dcs-extraordinary-cherries-brentwood

A couple of weeks back we went to Pease Ranch located at 25175 Marsh
Creek Road, Brentwood, CA 94513 and had a very pleasant experience.
    Here is their website: http://www.peaseranch.com/

We went to bachhini’s last weekend. It was good. (In brentwood)

Mike’s u pick may have peaches. But it closed last week before we got there.

Goto the road Eueraka and we found a place to pick nectarenes. They are open till 6. In this read peach was also available but they closed by 3 and reached there after 3.

Better to go early to avoid the heat

I think all farms are good. And same price (I think). Some has a minimum purchase limit some don’t. So watch for that. If you have small kids go to a farm that says no ladder required.

    The website harvest4u or some!
thing has the map. There are lot of farms. You can call some number and find out which fruits and which farms are open on a particular day. Some may be closed on Saturday or something.

If you visit some farms I think it was in marshcreekroad, they had printed map of harvest4u with details of all farms.

When you reach Brentwood driving from N.Vasco on 580, you will find many farms at the intersection stating from Walnut & Marsh. Most of them seem to be good since all were equally crowded. I would suggest going early in the morning.
