We have lot of iPhone users in our group and some of them are using it since looong time 🙂 So wanted to know what kool apps you have downloaded and would recommend to new iPhone owners.
Some of the Apps that i have and would recommend are
Shazam is one such kool app that i am sure everyone will have that.
Unblock Me is good game to have, it has more than 100 puzzles to solve.
Lemonade Tycoon – Another fun game to have.
Paper Toss – Just awesome and simple game.

Good post Nitul. I am a newbie to iPhone (having got one just last week). So I dont have much apps other than Yahoo and Facebook.
But I would like to know about the apps other KVites are using, so that I can install them too.
I now browse KV on iphone from home. Need to make the site optimized for mobile browsing. 🙂
Found 2 new apps
1> iCall – You can call anyone without using your AT&T minutes. This app requires your iPhone to be connected to Wi-Fi.
2> TextPlus Free – Send sms to any one without getting charged.
Google “Best free iphone apps” every month and you will find different recommendations.
I regularly use the following:
– bloomberg / etrade. On etrade you can sign up for streaming quotes
– google, (the whole suite of applications)
– quick notes (best free note pad)
– AroundMe (gives your store/service locations like GPS)
– npr addict (the repository of NPR programs)
– i-clicker lite (good for power point presentations, you can use your iphone as mouse during presentations),
– lightsaber (for kids),
– papertoss (kids),
– craigsphone (craigslist)
– The Weather Channel (TWC) (you can get all the details)
– fring (IM app that combines all of your IM contacts)
– RepairPal (car repair estimates)
I also use Blackjack, and kids like ChessFree, Dots free, and waterslide.
Besides apps I use iphone most extensively for podcasts.
There are tons of free podcasts that you can subsribe through itunes
With Parul involved, a card game has to be there. heh heh. 🙂
Adventure is good for Preschool age kids. EtchASeth, iBowl and Finger Piano are fun too

2> ePuzzle – Good puzzle game for kids and adults
3> pic2shop – This app takes the picture of a barcode and gives you the details of the item and price associated with that barcode.
One thing on iphone that has changed my life completely is tethering on iPhone. For this to work you MUST NOT upgrade to 3.1 (it came out today). Stay on 3.0.
Tethering basically means you can use the 3g internet on your iphone for your laptop and thus have fast internet anywhere you have a phone connection!

If this disables your voice mail (some people have seen this), then here is the fix for it:
In Settings>General>Network>Cellular Data Network
Under Visual Voicemail, it says wap.cingular. Change that to acds.voicemail and restart your phone. Done 🙂
Nimit, I thought tethering was only available outside US.
I use ipod touch for podcasts mostly while commuting. Have stopped listening to radio. Also I changed my car receiver since I wanted USB port. It is much better than FM transmittors.

I recently did JailBreak on my iPhone and there are soooooo many apps to install which are not available in the Apple Store.
I added an app called TVU Player which uses Wi-Fi to play streaming channels. Now i can watch movies, desi hindi channels on my iPhone.
