Product Review: Philips Digital Photo Frame

Philips 6.5 Inch Digital Photo Frame

Digital photo frames are catching on.  Soon there will be one in every household.  Since we all take so many digital pictures we need an avenue to revisit these photos and avoid them languishing in the sectors of our hard disk.  The digital photo frame does precisely that.

When you can sitting in solitude mode on a weekend afternoon what can be better than to have your digital photo frame on and you remember those memorable moments of the pictures appearing on the screen.

I recently bought the “Philips 6.5 Inch Digital Photo Frame (Clear & Black) ” from Amazon for about 90$.  The price went up post holidays to 100$.   It runs from SD memory card inserted into it (needs to be purchased separately).  It comes with a clock display as well but that can be turned off.  It has no brand name on front and so the frame looks elegant.  I just copied my photos from harddisk to SD memory card and the photos started showing without any changes or resizing from my end.  I am happy with quality of the resolution also. The photos seem real nice.

There is a newer version of this frame available on Amazon for 80$ but I did not go for that one since I was afraid that is pandering more to the higher aspect ratios photos thereby requiring me to resize some of my photos.  I am not sure of this though and you should do your research too.

There are other photo frames out there which have wireless too and can retrieve photos from ur online account automatically.  There are others which can play MP3 while the slideshow runs.

  1. This definitely seems a nice thing to have. Wireless seems like a good feature. I haven’t done any research but wondering if any out there with card reader in there. May make it bulky though. But saves the need of buying another card and transferring to and fro 🙁

  2. KV Ads showed an ad for this. Receive pictures via phone line anywhere. Cool way of sharing pics to a remote spot.
