Brown rice is supposed to be more nutritious than white. Am trying to find which is the best one, since there are so many types of brown rice available :(. I got Long grain Brown rice and it tastes decent enough, it is little thick and chewy though. But any other variation that anyone has tried?

Last week I went to India cash & carry after looong time and came across Brown Basmati and was bit surprise. Did you buy big bag or found small pack? I had got bag of Brown rice from Albertson’s when Kairavi was small. It was okay. Took longer (6-8 whistles) to cook then normal white rice. Recently made brown rice with Thai curry but folks did not enjoy them at home as much as they enjoy in restaurant.
Found a small bag in ICC, it is next to lemons extra (where you get kids cereal, other foods). But yes most of it is Basmati brown rice which i still have to try. The one that i got does not take longer to cook, normal 2 whistles is good and so far all are liking the taste 🙂
I have tried browm rice and it takes longer to cook and it taste good not as good as white but it is very healthy. I have also made dosa with brown rice grinding at home it comes good and it is slightly brown in colour not as white as regular one.
I used to buy it from luckys and cook outside not pressure cook
I like brown rice. Made few times at home but required more time to cook or had too much water remaining when done cooking compare to white rice. Used to get from whole food in bulk section, haven’t tried the ICC one.
We’ve been using brown for about 4 yrs either from Trader Joes or ICC, in fact even Kumud carries the big pack of 10lbs now
For white rice they take off 7 layers of the husk and brown they take off 5 which is why it tastes a little nutty.
It cooks very well in the rice cooker, or in the pressure cooker it needs to be soaked for 2 hrs with 2.3 times of water and 5 whistles, but the key is to leave it in the cooker for at least an hour after cooking for all the water to be absorbed
Also try using wild rice or red rice. They are very nutritious too.
All thru my pregnancy had Khicdi made from brown rice.
Recently had come to know that white rice is better than brown rice
