For all hikers in KV, I am thinking to go hiking to Uvas Canyon Park on Feb 7th (provided that I have at least 2 more people joining me).
The approximate address is : 8220 Croy Rd Morgan Hill, CA 95037
It has good reviews on Yelp.
It has a stream with 5+ waterfalls. Based on reviews from yelp, seems to be easy enough for kids as well. Not sure how stroller friendly it is (someone can find out about strollers).
Here is the bahiker.com page for it.
Would have loved to come. Can’t u wait till after ur trip ? Anyways from what I hear there has been little rainfall and the streams might be empty :-).
OK. I will reserve the Uvas Canyon for Samir and search for an alternate hike place right now. π
Hey Prashant,
I am in,, whatever day… whatever venue..
We are interested in hike. Will wait for date/venue.
This will probably take place in last week of April Once Samir is here. Could be Apr 25/26 weekend.
Can we have a family hike with stroller friendly place this time.
The streams in Uvas Canyon maybe empty by this time :). Fyi.. Open space reserve is having docent led hikes in April @ Coyote Ridge. http://www.openspaceauthority.org/activities/thingstodo.html
Yes, the thinking was to have one stroller hike before Uvas canyon. Uvas canyon will happen no matter water or not :-). (The date can be played around with though).
For stroller hike –> How about Huddart County Park in Woodside.

Potentially on Apr 12? or Apr 25/26 (pushing the Uvas canyon into May)
Up for Uvas Canyon on 25/26th April.
How about group1 goes before and get some glimpses of stream/fall. Group2 can go with Samir. Options for group1 are April 4/12/18
Yes, a stroller friendly hike would be really nice.
But some of us are planning for snowplay on the 12th.
April 26th sounds good though. π
ok. Lets reserve Sunday April 26 for the Stroller Hike. Recommendations for Stroller Hike?
Uvas Canyon can be with 2 groups:
a) Sat May 2 (with Samir) and
b) April 4/5 weekend or April 17/18 weekend
Nobody for group1?? π
Moms/Girls may be we can make it girls hike.
Apr 4,17,18 works for me.
Fantastic Hike completed by Batch-1. The waterfalls and the stream were just so pretty to look at. We went close to several falls and had lots of fun. Sometimes you stay in an area for so long and you are unaware of gold mines in the area. I would say Uvas canyon is such a gold mine and I should kick myself for not going there till now. Awesome experience and good connection with nature. Unfortunately Batch-1 had just our family only (PDKKSS) from KV and some other non KV-friends but it was a blast nevertheless.
I hope the streams stay till Batch-2 goes on May-2. But even if streams run dry it should still be a good hike.
Amazing Hike. Highly recommend folks to join batch-2. Hope water level remains same till then.
It took us little over 3hrs to complete Alec Canyon Trail which also included Water Fall Trail in it. We made various stops to go closer to water fall. Or one could choose to just go on 1mi. Water Fall loop. More then 1/4th of the trail goes parallel to stream/falls. Sound of flowing water in the background is very pleasant & encouraging. Kairavi hiked whole way happily enjoying the surroundings. Not a stroller friendly trail though. Suravi enjoyed sling ride with Daddy. If you/kids have comfortable water proof shoes like crocs, wear those. For additional fun of wade throΓ’β¬β’ water as you go near falls. Nice Picnic area near parking lot.
Dimple Is it Stroller friendly . I may have missed the conversion about stroller friendly π
Neelam
It is not stroller friendly as such. But Ajay-Amita did bring the stroller to Portola State Park in Feb and they had to pick up the stroller at various places. Its similar to that. You will need to pick up the stroller at some places. We are talking about the light stroller of course.
In case anyone needed motivation to join Batch-2 here are the pictures from Batch-1. π
