Few days before we found about this group called Freecycle. Its called http://www.freecycle.org/.
Its a yahoogroup. You can find one in your city. You can exchange anything you do not need and also can ask for something you need. Something like a barter system but just one way transaction. People offer everything from books to furniture.

Bijal (Jignesh) told me about this when we were planning our move. ( But your mail box will get full pretty fast!!)
When we were disposing our stuff, there was no buyer/taker for our queen bed. Last solution we thought was freecycle.org. The day before our flight to India, we put it on freecycle. And within few ours we got couple of responses. Finally one mexican lady came in the morning we were flying to India and took away the bed. We were so relieved and thanking Bijal who told us about this site that I thought I will suggest this web site on KV!!
