Heads Up: Jaina convention in Los Angles next year

Just a heads up that the next Jaina convention is going to be in Los Angeles area next year during the July 4th weekend.

Jaina conventions are lot of fun spiritually as well as culturally. You may want to plan your parents trips around that time frame so that they can enjoy the same as well.

Now this does conflict with our KV cruise plans on long weekend next year. But we can discuss that out in one of our medavo meeetings. Either way, one thing is sure we are going to at least ONE event in LA starting with a “C” and which comes with Great Food. 🙂 (either Cruise or Convention).

Hope to hear more discussions on this in our “mobile KV watercooler” area.

  1. Prashant, Since u attended this year’s convention, Educate us on whether it is worthwhile to take kids (includes all KV kids ages) to convention? Are their any worthwhile activites for them? other than probably the provision of day-care. This would make the decision easier for most folks – which of the “C” to take 🙂

  2. Oops sorry i thought this was for KOJAIN convention. But it may apply for JAINA too – if someone has attended JAINA earlier (when it was in the Bay Area)

  3. Good point. Its true that such conventions dont have much for the kids in the 0-15 age. I dont remember what are the reduced charges or whether kids below a certain age are free?

  4. Jaina convention is a very good religious event and a good social event. There are a lot of good tracks that one can attend and the kids have activities that they can join in. It’s a great way of exposing kids to larger Jain activities and events and our culture. There are multiple tracks of activites in various age groups. The evening activites are a lot of fun. There is a day-care setup, although it’s dependent on the host as to what level they will provide. All in all, it’s an excellent event to attend; one that doesn’t come to the west coast very often (We had two — in 1991 and 2005. LA had one in the 80’s). I would encourage all to attend.
