TAARE’S AT KARAOKE FRIDAY!
The sky last Friday was clear with no ‘Taare’s’ shining, because they all converged at ICC’s first Kids Karaoke Night.
Kids crooned to melodious songs and the room was packed with parents, grandparents and kids. Evening kicked off with ‘Twinkle Twinkle Little Star’, in line with the theme of “Taare Zameen Par”.
The youngest participant was a 24 month old who sang ‘ABCD’. We saw duets of sisters, brother and sister, friends, parent and child and the most amazing lip sync prompting by dad.
Some of the songs of the evening were: ‘kahe tarasaaye’, ‘It’s a small world’, ‘Maa’ from Taare Zameen Par, ‘akele hum akele tum’, ‘krazy kiya rae’, ‘yeh ishq hai’, ‘my dil goes zoom’, ‘dil hai chhota sa’, ‘ek payar ka nagma hai’, ‘nani teri moorni ko mor lae gaye’, ‘lakadi ki kathi’, ‘aye malik tere bande hum’, ‘om jai jagdish’, ‘hum to aise hai bahiya’, ‘chanda oo chanda’, ‘insaf ki dagar pae’.
Audience stood in respect when one of the star kids sang National Anthem of India ‘Jana Gana Mana’.
We received the maximum number of sign-ups for ICC mailing list that night. Considering the stunning success of the program ICC Karaoke Club will hold another event dedicated to kids in second half of the year. We would like to thank all the children and parents who participated to make it a memorable event.
Every kid left with a gift as promised. For pictures from that evening please click here or if this link does not work, copy and paste the following link into your browser.

I ended up sitting in this program for 3-4 songs while dropping off my dad at ICC. This was free and I thought the singers were good.
As such anyone can sing and the program usually goes on till 10 or 10.30pm.
If I am not doing anything else on a Friday evening, I dont mind going here again and hanging out for some time.
got to try this out once. I will need groupies though 🙂 anyone?
They have a yahoogroups which i just joined.

I am sure Nitul will be interested as well.
Here are the rules that they specify for singers:
Rules for Singers on Karaoke Nights:
We have been seeing many new singers and audiences and thought we should mention some singer rules for Karaoke nights.
1. No “Absentee Signups” including duets. Both singers need to be present if signing up for a Duet. (No excuses. E.g. can I sign up for my friend, he is in the lobby.)
2. Any one singer should not sing more than 2 songs in the evening (including solos and duets).
3. One person can sign up for only one song at time. After his/her turn, you can sign up for the second song at the next “available” spot.
4. A couple can sign up for 3 songs (2 solos and 1 duet). Later the Duet cannot be converted to a Solo. That spot will be cancelled.
5. During the Wait List time, first preference shall/will be given to singers who have did not get a chance to sing earlier in the evening.
ICC total Business
We had a tour few weeks back,it has totally changed and very expensive. Looks like the founders Vision what he use to have for Indian Community has changed and become business mind Previously the old ICC had everything library, computer access and felt like Indian atmosphere now just money making business by renting hall,no more computer access, no library, no table tennis or carom play, when you want to play table tennis you have to go to dixion landing location where they have their own timing for free play & no child care. Some of the classes I inquired you have to pay for it says fund raising and for what purpose fund raising.
All the above in the tour we were told you can come to cafe anytime and no need to be a member so its a commercial business after all.
ICC Surely has become more commercial and its not like old place.
Membership is high and not that many facilities available. But with new centre its all trial version, new changes, rules keep on changing every month and no body has correct information. We really miss that carrom , table tennis, fuzz ball free play which we use to
do in old building. Feeling was totally different at old place as we have been members for many years.

Commenter in comment 6, where is this Dixon Landing location? Is it part of ICC, or ICC collabrated with external vendor? What all activities are there at dixon landing location?
I think they are talking about

1453 North Milpitas Blvd, Milpitas, CA 95035
IT is behind blue dragon academy and jensons perfoming art. But I have no details @ carrom and other sports play. I just know they have a different location for table tennis and it is part of ICC.
