The Second Innings (of any Food Item)

You made something to eat. However that did not get finished. Or you ate it multiple times and still there is some leftover.

So now you have 2 options:
a) To throw it away (just because of boredom to eat the same thing and not because it has gone bad).
b) To transfer the food item into another food item. i.e., give a new lease of life to the food item.

What are the kinds of second innings food items that you prepare ?

  1. One of the best second innings food that i like is the “bhaat jee dhokadi” that is prepared from left over rice. Its yellow colored.

    Now that has to be the MOST AWESOME breakfast food ever.

  2. Bhaat ji Dhokdi arre Prashant tune maa ki yaad dilla di……..and vagharali bhaat orbhaat ja bhajiya……..my favorite is also Vagharali Chay wali Rotli or Bajar ji Mani…we also maake Appam Vada from leftover idli batter…or muthiya from left over rice and katti…..

  4. Lucky me !! after going to India Maa ke hathon bani Bhaat ji Dhokdi khane bhi mili :-).

    Muthiya from leftover rice, khichaddi and katti is common at our place.

  5. In Bombay, we used to fry old rotlis in oil and then I used to eat them with dahi or chai.

  6. I thought that the KV ladies would be more resourceful but looks like maybe not. 🙂

    Sour Milk can be converted into delicious Kalakand.

    Kobi Saag can be converted into Kobi Toast.

  7. Dal dhokli if you have too much leftover daal. Ate all the things – dhokadi, waghareli bhaat/rotli, tareli rotli etc in India. So Prashant do we get to eat bhaat ji dhokadi at camping :).

  8. Leftover vegetables go in between slices of bread, a little butter and the whole thing goes into a sandwich maker – eat with ketchup and/or chutney 🙂

  9. Bread Upma if lot of bread gets collected somehow.

  10. Spray oil on leftover idli cut into 4 pcs and bake them for a healtier version of idli fry

  11. Most of the times I make wagharela Dhokla.
    left over rice converted into curd rice. (south indian style)
    instant snack if you want to finish bread. Saute onions and tomato with simple waghar , add water, salt and then bread. cant stay long.

  12. Cutlets made of leftover rotli’s.

  13. Banana bread if banana are too ripe .

  14. Old Golpapdi or Godiya Ladoo can be warmed on stove for quick delicious seera.
