As per the walkscore.com website “Walk Score shows you a map of what’s nearby and calculates a Walk Score for any property. Buying a house in a walkable neighborhood is good for your health and good for the environment.”.
The walk score for our address is 54.
What is your walkscore? I would assume people staying close to El Camino Real would have a higher walkscore since there are more stores closeby.
Ours is 78.
Here are a few other walkscores:
Nitul/Swati’s home: 63
Jayesh/Bhavini’s home: 69
Nilesh/Vandana’s home: 75
Ours is 55.
Well, we suck big time… 37
Ours came out to be 42.
I’m a little skeptical of the result. The mileage to the nearest library seemed incorrect for us. Also it didnt take into account that it was close to public transportation esp. BART.
On the other hand, the score for my workplace in SF came out to be …100
Of course it wont be exact. But it will give you a reasonable estimate of the things that you can walk to.
Near Leena’s place there is no walkable small grocery. Same with Jeegar. Hence their scores are low.
We have a small shopping complex within walkable distance containing 7-11, 1-2 restaurants, etc.
As expected Nilesh’s place came out with high scores since he is so closeby to many of the useful stores. Hope Nilesh is walking to these stores whenever possible. 🙂
i am not sure how accurate it is. Nilesh and we live just 5 minutes walking distance away and the score difference is 20.
ours came out as 48
Now that “walkscore” has all your addresses – be prepared for the onslaught of junk mail in a month or two 🙂
Good that I tried it out a few times with BhaveshG’s address first. 😉
