Lately I have been trying to find old friends on Orkut. Social networks like Orkut and LinkedIn seem to be a good way to find out about old schoolmates and classmates.
Unfortunately when I was in school nothing of this sort existed. So I lost touch with many of the schoolmates and collegemates. Hopefully the generation which passed out of school/college in recent years is better connected than me due to facilities like email/social networks.
I have only about 32 friends on Orkut till now but I pale in comparison to seasoned players like Paras (500+), Nitul (102), Komal (112), Sanket (250+), Amit Meckoni (190), etc.
I guess one of my new year resolutions would be increase my friends on Orkut to 100 in 2008. 🙂 . One day I hope to beat Nitul and Komal. Beating Paras seems impossible in this life.
Not sure how many KVites are on Orkut. I have a few of them in my friend list but there may be more hiding. If you are on Orkut please add me as a friend. 🙂 . I am on LinkedIn as well.
ok. upon chatting with Nimit today, I have joined Facebook as well.
I think its not matter of joining multiple social networking site & have higher no. of friends list. But actually how activite you are on that social group and how many of ur friends are active. You could have xxx friends but only
As of Dec 13th, my tally stands at :
LinkedIn(53), Orkut(34), Facebook(1)
Will compare again in more 2 months and see. 🙂
My previous message got cropped for some reason.. “You could have xxx friends but only x friend active that doesn’t count.”

hey prashant, thanks for the mention. I am lucky enough to be in touch with a lot of them – starting with 2 schools, jr. college, engg college and usc masters so the friends list keeps adding up.
Dimple is right, i regularly chat with just few from my entire bunch of 500+,.
Interesting topic –
Me and my school friends approaching 25th year anniversary of our SSC passout. 6 months back we started a yahoo group and out of approx 200 that passed out of SSC in 1983, we could find 90 of them thru word-of-mouth and some folks visiting the old addresses as given by the school and trying to find everyone and hoping they are still at their old address/phone #’s. We were also able to find 60% of the teachers we had during our time. We are having a grand celebration along with the teachers we had on 23th Dec in Mumbai (which i will be missing) but nevertheless we are hoping to find many more.
Hope we had Orkut or other soical netoworking site then 🙂
As of Apr 3, tally is :
Orkut(50), Facebook(44), LinkedIn (71)
🙂
