Since there has been so much talk about OSO, I thought this warranted a post by itself for my review. 🙂
First of all I give this movie a rating 8. The first half gets 9 and second half gets 7. Full marks to Farah Khan for thinking out of the box for various things. It breaks the monotonity of the usual movies. There are so many spoofs related to 70s and 80s that I am sure I will need to see it again to catch the subtle ones that i missed.
SRK is awesome in this role. He plays it to perfection. Good to see Shreyas Talpade also rising as a star. Deepika Padukone has a future and looks good. The movie is funny and entertaining. As Dimple said after the movie, This breaks our jinx of watching movies at the theater (After Shrek3 and Transformers this movie broke the jinx).
If you saw the film and did not like it as much you need to look at some of the other aspects of filmmaking. Farah Khan has put her creativity to work and if you look finely you will appreciate some of the hidden gems of the movie. This movie pays tribute to lot of former stars and lot of former movies. I hope you can catch the references. Some of the current stars appearing in special appearances have done a fabulous job.
Music is good but not as good as Heyy Babyy’s. The mega song involving various stars is awesome to watch. So is Dard-E-Disco where SRK flexes his 6-pack abs. The girls went crazy at the theater. Finally Farah Khan does a great thing by giving exposure to all the behind-the-scenes people that are involved in a movie but are never given proper recognition by the movie industry.
The promotion and marketing tactics of this movie were also good. SRK was everywhere in the last 3-4 weeks before the release. He had rightly said when asked which one of “OSO or Saawariya” will do better that “Diwali is all mine”. This Diwali is certainly SRK’s and was a good entertainer to watch. Thanks Farah Khan and SRK.
They showed the trailor of Jodha (Akbar) during interval and that looks a good movie to watch out as well. The trailor of Welcome (Akshay) was great too.
first half was good but second half was a total waste other than the 31 person dance. climax was too confusing.
neways, a one time watch.
Prashant tu hamare ghar aake dekh le yeh film vapas ask Amit how….
Compare to Black, gray & blue Saawariya (based on promos), very colorful movie.
