One will find car owners who choose unusual license plate names. There isn’t a big number of such unusual license plates but i don’t recollect seeing the same more than once. (Now that is like testing my memory 🙂 ). Mercury News Drive section also used to have a unusual license plate, haven’t paid attention recently as the whole layout in the news paper seems to be changing these days.
I spotted one recently which i haven’t yet figured out what it means – ‘GADARUN’. Can you help figure out what the owner wants to say. The driver definitely wasn’t anyone with the GADA last name 🙂
Another one that i saw few weeks ago was ‘SHRKZ (Heart symbol here) R’.
Have you noticed any that you would like to share?
I have a good one. Can you try to guess why the License plate is so named here. Its something to do with a sentence that all software developers must have used at least once till now. 🙂
I saw one which was pretty cool… it said GANDO-GUJU 🙂
I tried closing in on him to pay my tributes to his holiness… he smiled back.
Cool one Prashant !!
r the others ” Got to Run” and “Sharks Lover”
One of my colleague writes articles for mid-day. His last article was on this topic:

In case someone didn’t get this…
Have you ever heard someone tell you a problem you found was a “feature not a bug?”
Happens to me all the time with QA.
yup. In case someone did not get the picture that i posted its meant to say
“Its not a Bug. Its a Feature!!!” :-).
Its a favorite line for Developers and a hated one for QA engineers. Right Dimple?
Another one noted on a Volkswagon Bettle.
“BUGLITE”
Other good ones “YME GOD”, “XCLER8”
During Hay Days at Yahoo in 2000, there were some license plates on campus with YHOO in them like
MY YHOO, THX YHOO, etc.
Another one for Scheme junkies:
Front of Car: car
Back of Car: cadr
One of the Gujju BEA colleagues has their license plate as “KEM-CHO”. You would have probably seen it in Sunnyvale.
Another one license plate on Infinity was “DIV BY0”
GADARUN ==> Slang for “Got to Run”
GANDO-GUJU ==> Where did you see that? California is limited by “7” characters only on the license plate 🙂
No wonder that dude labelled himself “Gando-Gujju” since he does not know the rules of california. 🙂
I liked the Infinity one given by Sandip.
Similar to that somewhere out there someone could be having:
a) STAR-TRK for a Honda Odyssey
b) INTERNET for a Ford Explorer
c) I-HV-RINGS for a Saturn
Correction:
He had it as GNDOGUJ.. GANDO-GUJJU was my manisfestation of it…hahhn.. I hope my interpretation is correct. He did look like a Gujjubhai….
Saw this today on a truck providing car detailing service — “GOTWAAX”
I did not get the joke about “cadr” posted in comment#8 by Jeegar. Anyone else got it?
I’m guessing car and cdr refer to the operations in the Lisp programming language where car returns the first element of the linked list and cdr the rest (?)
Bingo Leena….
cadr would be car(cdr) which is the tail of the list. To get the very end of the tail you would need caaaa…dr (depending on the length of the car..), which being very hypothetical, I guess the owner just stuck with cadr suggesting that his car was just the front and back. Wait.. getting horse analogies here…. 🙂
I was driving behind a Toyota Highlander today on 237. Its license plate was “MY TOY26”
I have a collection of of plates at
http://sanjaygala.tripod.com/automobiles.htm
and scroll down to License Plates section. Have not updated in several years.
There is one with ‘Navakar’. Guess?
Wow. Never knew Sanjay2 was a car enthusiast !!!
Came across this license plate today – 13MERA7
I guess if the saat(h) breaks for some reason, the license plate will be the first to go…
