Childhood Games

What were your favorite Childhood games ? what were your favorites games when u were a young child as y grew older?

  1. As a young kid I enjoyed Bhattukli A marathi word for Ghar ghar. I loved the small kitchen set, the cups and saucer and would dress up in a saree. The other favorite one was teacher teacher.As I grew older i played lagori ( I am sure many of u know this game) , Marbles , dabies pies ( the other name for hide and seek ), Chor police , cards and bandminton.

  2. I have played marbles, lagori and that eight-box langdi thing where you throw a flat stone into each o f the 8 boxes and then hop into each box and jumping over the box which has the stone.

    lock n key, badminton, the eight-box langdi, outdoor favorites.
    Neelam, u’ve reminded us of those sweet days, next time in the picnic we shud play all these games !?

  4. I used to play Land and Water also. That was fun too.

  5. Sakdi, Badminton, thapo, lagori, marbles, kho,indoor games such as snakes and ladder , as we grew we played cards,kodi, and pachika (play with 5 pcs similar to dice)

  6. “Chaupaat” was another favorite board game. Its like Ludo and played with Kodyoon (similar to shells).

  7. Goti Patta and Still love it now I call it teen patti as I can afford to play with pennies…..but onething didnt change I lost then and I lose today also….

  8. Land-water, Vish-Amrut, Gotya (marbles), Lagori, Langdi, gilli-danda, kood-ghodi and of course, lot of games with no names (and their rules) that we made up on the go just like Calvin-ball. If these games involved equipments then the owner of the equipments always won!

  9. Goti, Cards, Lagori, Thapo, Land and Water, Langdi,Vapar(Monopoly), Cricket, Caroom, Table Tennis (with 2 glasses and a lakdi) and many more. But Goti and Cards were top of the list.

  10. Hemal, How do you play table tennis with 2 glasses and a lakdi????

  11. We use 2 glasses and lakdi as a net. Than we used to kneel down and play table tennis.

    Luka-Chupi or Thappo
    Dubba Ais Pais (similar to luka-chupi)
    Marbles – Koyba, 10-20–100, Raja Rani
    Roller skating, cycling
    Video games
    Table tennis (with 2 vaatkas and lakdi on dining table) in the house (also cricket in the house – broke quite a few things)
    Underarm, rubber and tennis ball cicket
    Carrom and chess
    — to name a few
