Summer camp options

When we were small, summer used to be the time to enjoy, spend time with cousin’s, relatives, visit places etc. This itself reminds me of another post – how did you spend your summer vacation while you were in school 🙂 I’ll leave it to another author to write.
Here too many parents with older kids plan vacations to India or other places when summer begins in USA. For kids with working parents if vacation is not an option the alternative is summer camp.

Many of us still don’t need to or haven’t had to enroll kids in summer camps, but some of the folks have too. Usually people enroll for summer camps in April/May time frame depending upon the popularity of the camp. I am exploring some options for this year August and thought it would be a good idea if folks could share the different options that they have explored. Bay Area parent magazine maybe covers most of the summer camps, but KV magazine serves the kutchvalley 🙂
Good part about most of the camps that i have looked at, have enrollment on a weekly basis. Although most of the summer camps start with the age group of kids entering kindergarten in that year. Very few options for kids in the 3 – 5 age group. Most cities offer summer camp options as well.

So are there any camps that your kids go to? Did you like those camps? Would you recommend or not recommend them to others.

I have found following 3 for the 3-5 age group.

Decathlon club offers summer camps for ages 3-5, time 9.00 – 2.00 pm

Decathlon Club

Fasttrack kids – 2 locations cupertino and Los Altos

Fastrack in CA

Cupertino location

YMCA also has 3 hr program for 3-5 year old.

Indian Community center

5 Comments:

  1. Looks like KV parents are not much into summer camps yet 😉

  2. Cupertino Community center also offers some summer camps. But most of them are for 5yrs and older. For 3 and up there are some options .. mostly half a day camps

  3. Devanshi and Shivani went to Decathlon last year and loved it. They also went to the Castilleja Camp (you need to be atleast K+ for that camp) which is an all-girls camp in Palo Alto and couldn’t wait to go back again this year.

We’ve heard good things about the ICC camps, and their new center in Milpitas is awesome!

For a mini-vacation locally, but with fantastic kids day-camps – check out the Ritz Carlton in Half Moon Bay where kids can do interesting things during the day while the parents are in the spa 🙂

  4. Little gym has option of summer camp for kids 3years and older which is only for 3 to 4 hrs and some places they also have extended care…
