A few alphabets seem more popular than others in the current generation kids names.
I drew up a list of Kairavi’s friends (and our friends kids) and tried to see which alphabets are popular. The numbers below signify how many kids have names starting with that letter in our circle.
A:16, K: 13 (including Kairavi), R: 11, S: 10
D,M,P,V were in the 4-6 range
N, J were 3 each and T was 2
The Least used were (not considering X, Q , etc):
C,F,G,H,I, L,O, U, W,Z : 0
B,E,Y : 1
So as you can see “A” is very popular currently. And in that category “Aa” is also popular (Aayush, Aarshi, Aadi, Aashvi, Aashna, Aaryahi, Aadish)
One of our friends had named his boy “Anay” and later after 2 weeks changed it to Tanay. :-). K is also very popular among kids now-a-days.
What new names will come out from the parents-to-be in the coming year remains to be seen. Maybe some of the less popular alphabets can get bumped up depending on the 2007-2008 arrivals :-).
