I have seen some ambulances with the spelling spelt backwards like above and also the letters are reversed. Why is that?

    This is so that the person who is driving in front of the ambulance can see it correctly in his/her mirror and thus give way to the ambulance.

    Yeah, that is right. Day before yesterday I was in the car together with Samir and saw the ambulance and wondered why they write it that way. And samir explained it to me.
